[Overview]

Part of the rectum or part of the large intestine protruding from the anus and outside the anus is called rectal prolapse, commonly known as prolapse of the anus.

[etiology / pathogen]

Mainly due to constipation, diarrhea, weakness after illness, or chronic constipation or dysentery caused by enema with irritant drugs, late pregnancy of sows, etc., strong remorse, increased intra-abdominal pressure, anal sphincter relaxation, causing part or most of the rectum to turn out from the anus and cannot be retracted by itself.

[symptoms]

At the beginning of the disease, the rectal mucosa is often turned out during defecation, but it can often be retracted by itself, and the prolapse date is longer, and the intestinal mucosa cannot recover after inflammation. The mucous membrane is swollen, reddish purple, eroded, and even causes trauma and tear.

[treatment]

Rectal prolapse can also be treated by injecting alcohol around the anus, which is injected at four o'clock above and below the anus at a depth of about 3-8 cm. Before injection, the index finger is protruded into the anus in advance with a fixed-point needle around the outer wall of the rectum, and then injected. 95% alcohol 0.5-2 ml is injected at each point, and generally does not protrude soon after injection. If the rectal edema and erosion of prolapse is serious and it is not easy to restore, rectal amputation should be considered.

[prevention and control measures]

To improve feeding management and prevent constipation or dysentery, it must be repaired in time after prolapse, first wash the prolapsed intestine with 0.1% potassium permanganate, then lubricate the mucosa with oil, and carefully push it into the anus. If the intestinal edema is serious, you can use gauze to extrude the edema fluid to reduce the size of the intestine, and then close the bag around the anus (see figure). Pay attention not to tie the knot too tight In order to avoid affecting defecation, give digestible feed within a week after restoration, feed more green material, if defecation is blocked within 2-3 days, enema must be carried out, and the thread can be removed after a few days.
