Last Updated: 2024/11/06, With the increase of temperature and humidity, the incidence of bacterial diseases in pigs will increase, and more attention should be paid to Haemophilus parasuis infection. Haemophilus parasuis only infects pigs and can affect young pigs from 2 weeks to 4 months of age. It mainly occurs before and after weaning and during the nursery stage. It is usually seen in pigs aged 5 to 8 weeks. The incidence rate is 10%~15%. In severe cases, the mortality rate can reach 50%. Acute cases tend to occur first in healthy pigs. With the increase of temperature and humidity, the incidence of bacterial disease in pigs will increase, so it is more necessary to guard against Haemophilus parasuis infection. Haemophilus parasuis only infects pigs and can affect young pigs from 2 weeks to 4 months of age, mainly before and after weaning and during the conservation stage. It is commonly seen in 5-8-week-old pigs, with an incidence of 10%-15% and a mortality rate of up to 50% in severe cases.

Acute cases often first occur in pigs with good body condition. The sick pigs had fever (40.5-42 ℃), depressed spirit, loss of appetite, dyspnea, abdominal breathing, red or pale skin, purple tip of ears, subcutaneous edema of eyelids, slow walking or reluctance to stand, enlargement of wrist and tarsal joints, lying on the side or limbs before death. Sometimes he dies suddenly without obvious symptoms.

Chronic cases are more common in nursing pigs. Diseased pigs have loss of appetite, cough, dyspnea, rough coat, weak limbs or claudication, poor growth until failure and death.

From the effect of practical application, florfenicol, cephalosporin, amoxicillin, ampicillin, gentamicin and synergistic sulfonamide have certain therapeutic effects on the disease, and most strains are resistant to erythromycin, aminoglycosides and lincomycin.

For the severe outbreak of Haemophilus parasuis in pigs, the therapeutic effect of antibiotics is not satisfactory. once the clinical symptoms have appeared, the infected pigs should be injected with large doses of above-mentioned sensitive antibiotics in addition to oral administration, once every 6-8 hours, and prevent the whole herd of other pigs at the same time.

The treatment effect of this disease is not good, in the production practice of pig farms, preventing the outbreak of the disease is the best policy. For example, the piglets were fed with Zhiyuanjing 100 (unit: mg / kg, the same below) + chlortetracycline 300 + amoxicillin 250 or Zhiyuanjing 100 + florfenicol 80.

In pig farms with serious Haemophilus parasuis, pigs can be immunized if necessary, and their own vaccine has a certain preventive effect; if there are no conditions, polyvalent inactivated vaccine of Haemophilus parasuis can also be used for immunization. Sows: first free pigs 40 days before parturition, prenatal 20 days 2 free. Immunized pigs can be immunized once 30 days before delivery. Pig farms seriously threatened by the disease, piglets should also be immunized, piglets are generally arranged within 7 days to 30 days of age, 1 ml each time, it is best to repeat immunization 15 days after the first immunization, and the second immunity should be more than 10 days apart from the onset of the disease.

Strengthen feeding management and environmental disinfection, reduce all kinds of stress, piglets in conditional pig farms can not be mixed when weaning during the epidemic period, and isolate sick pigs in the same pig house. Some anti-stress drugs such as vitamin C can be added to drinking water before and after weaning, herding, mixing or transportation, and the above recommended drug combinations can effectively prevent the occurrence of the disease.
