Geranium is a perennial herb, which is subshrub-like and likes cool climate. the suitable growth temperature is 5 ℃ ~ 25 ℃, and the seeds germinate well at 21 ℃ ~ 20 ℃. The plant is not heat-resistant and the plant enters a semi-dormant state during the high temperature period in summer. Like to grow under sufficient light, resistant to dryness, avoid water and dampness, require loose cultivation medium and good drainage, rich in organic matter.

First, sowing and raising seedlings

1. Sowing time in southern region: sowing time in open field from February to March, September to October, flowering period in open field from February to June, October to December, sowing time in greenhouse from January to March, September to December, greenhouse flowering time from January to June, October to December, greenhouse sowing time from January to March, September to December, greenhouse flowering period from January to June, October to December.

2. Sowing conditions

① seedling medium: use flower special seedling medium "Zhuang Miao No. 3".

② light: seeds germinate in disrelish light, and the medium 0.3cm is thick after sowing.

③ temperature: keep the medium temperature 21 ℃ ~ 25 ℃, 5 days and 10 days after emergence.

④ humidity: keep the medium moderate humidity after sowing and should not be too wet.

⑤ sowing method: direct seeding on the hole plate or sowing on the seedling plate.

II. Seedling stage management

1. Temperature. The medium temperature was kept at 21 ℃ ~ 25 ℃ and emerged in 5 ~ 10 days. Too high temperature could easily cause seeds to produce thermal dormancy and affect germination, while too low temperature would hinder the growth and development of seedlings. During the whole seedling raising period, the medium temperature should be kept at least 18 ℃. The pH value was kept between 6.0 and 7.0, and the optimum pH value for the growth of geranium was 6.2-6.5.

Light. Seedlings should be exposed to light quickly after germination to prevent overgrowth; the light time can be maintained at 16-18 hours per day for 4 weeks, with a light intensity of 3200-5400 Lux. geraniums are called "light accumulators", meaning that the more light they accumulate, the faster they grow and blossom.

2. Fertilizer. During direct seeding, 1000-fold solution of chlorophyllin can be applied once a week after the cotyledons are completely spread, and the concentration can be increased by 1000 times before planting. When using other fertilizers, if the concentration of chlorine exceeds 1ppm, it may cause plant toxicity to cotyledons, and attention should be paid to avoid using tap water with excessive chlorine content.

Moisture. The medium should be kept in a medium humidity state, and the medium should be kept dry between two watering times, while the air humidity should be kept low to reduce the occurrence of diseases.

III. Cultivation and management

Transplant. When the cotyledons of the seedlings are completely flat, the seedlings can be planted in the 70-hole hole plate, and after about 20 days, the seedlings can be planted in the pot when there are 4 or 5 true leaves. Immediately after planting, 1000-fold solution of topiramate was used as "root-fixing water" to prevent the occurrence of root rot (Pythium).

Temperature. Pelargonium likes cool growth environment and is afraid of high temperature. the suitable temperature for growth is 5 ℃ ~ 25 ℃. It is the most suitable for growth in spring. When cultivated in autumn and winter, the night temperature should not be lower than 5 ℃, so in the north, the geranium needs to be protected by greenhouse or greenhouse, otherwise it is easy to be frozen; in the south, the summer weather is hot, the growth of geranium is in a semi-dormant state, and the flowering is poor, during this period, it needs to be moderately cooled to less than 30 ℃ to make it safe over the summer.

Light. Keep the growth environment in full daylight state, make it grow well and blossom as soon as possible; make use of the characteristics of geranium flowering that need to accumulate certain light, can adjust the light to adjust its flowering period, can be carried out according to the actual growth status.
