Last Updated: 2024/11/05, In many places, after apricot fruit is picked, farmers think that apricot management is over, neither fertilizing nor pest control or pruning, resulting in soil hardening, insufficient fertility and weak tree power, resulting in insufficient nutritional growth, insufficient storage nutrients, insufficient nutrients for flower bud differentiation and development, increased the number of degraded flowers, and serious pistil abortion. The fruit setting rate in the coming year is very low or unstable at all, and the yield and quality are better than each other year after year.

In many places, after apricot fruit is picked, farmers think that apricot management is over, neither fertilizing nor pest control or pruning, resulting in soil hardening, insufficient fertility and weak tree power, resulting in insufficient nutritional growth, insufficient storage nutrients, insufficient nutrients for flower bud differentiation and development, increased the number of degraded flowers, and serious pistil abortion.

Phenomenon, the fruit setting rate in the coming year is very low or not stable at all, yield and products

The quality decreases year by year, and finally forms an inferior garden. Therefore, strengthening the timely and reasonable management of apricot after fruit harvest, especially summer pruning, is of great significance to the high and stable yield of apricot in the coming year.

Chen Dong, an expert from the Institute of Horticulture of the Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences, said that apricot fruits mature early and there is still a considerable period of time from harvest to fallen leaves. Strengthening management during this period plays an important role in reducing the occurrence of diseases and insect pests, promoting tree growth, restoring tree potential, and improving the quantity and quality of flower buds. The postharvest management of apricot trees should start from the following aspects.

Postharvest summer shear

After apricot harvest, because the early fruit growth consumes a lot of nutrients and the tree storage nutrients are less, it is necessary to improve the ventilation and light transmission conditions, promote photosynthesis and increase tree storage nutrients in order to promote flower bud differentiation and development.

For young apricot trees, the growth is often prosperous, so it is necessary to control the vegetative growth of the tree, ease the tree potential, and improve the light conditions inside the tree. In the crown with poor light conditions, it is difficult to form full flower buds, so the methods of summer pruning (such as coring, twisting, pulling branches, other branches, opening angle, etc.) and opening angles can be used to ventilate the tree, ease the tree potential and promote the formation of flowers. If the growth of the new shoot is still strong, continue to pick the heart of the new shoot for many times to promote the branching and cultivate the branch group.

For adult fruiting trees, it is mainly to adjust the density of branches and cut off the disease and insect branches, cross branches, overlapping branches, thin and weak branches and long branches in the crown, so as to reduce tree consumption, promote photosynthesis and increase the accumulation of photosynthates. accelerate the formation of flower buds.

However, it should be noted that in most parts of Sichuan, it is the rainy season of high temperature and high humidity after fruit picking, so try not to prune large branches, otherwise there will be a lot of glue flow.

Pest control

Timely spraying to control diseases and insect pests after fruit harvest is also a work that can not be ignored. If the occurrence of diseases and insect pests is serious, it will lead to early defoliation and low efficiency of leaf photosynthesis. At the same time, the sources of diseases and insect pests will increase in the coming year, and the occurrence of diseases and insect pests will be serious in the coming year, which will bring difficulties to production management. The main control diseases and pests are diamondback moth, shellfish, heart-eating beetle and red-necked longicorn beetle, and the diseases are leaf perforation disease, apricot disease and branch gummy disease.

Once it is found that apricot scab occurs on the leaves, it should be cut off in time, and if necessary, fungicides should be sprayed to treat the disease and protect the leaves to promote the healthy growth of the tree. After fruit harvesting, permethrin and carbendazim or thiophanate-methyl should be sprayed immediately after fruit harvesting to control Dendrolimus punctatus, navicular caterpillar and perforation disease, and acaricides should be sprayed when there are 3 mites on each leaf. In addition, it is best to add 0.3% urea and potassium dihydrogen phosphate at the same time of each pest control, tree urea with weak tree potential and potassium dihydrogen phosphate with strong growth.

Fertilizer and water management

The apricot fruit should be fertilized in time after harvest, especially for the trees with weak tree potential and more fruit in the year, in order to make up for the lack of nutrients in the tree body. Ditches can be opened to apply organic fertilizer and a small amount of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. Farm manure is the main organic fertilizer, generally, 30-50 kg of farm manure and 0.3-0.5 kg of superphosphate are applied to each fruiting tree at the beginning of 5-6 years, and 70-100 kg of farm manure and 0.5-1.0 kg of calcium superphosphate are applied to each tree at full fruit stage, which are watered immediately after application. In addition, combined with spraying, 0.2% Mel 0.3% urea and 0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate were sprayed on the leaves for 2-3 times, which can improve the nutrient reserve level of the tree, keep the apricot tree strong after harvest, and promote flower bud differentiation to ensure the yield in the coming year.

Deep ploughing and soil improvement

After apricot harvest, ploughing should be carried out in the whole garden in autumn, which can be turned deeply once with the application of basic fertilizer, and the depth is about 20 cm. Through deep ploughing and soil improvement, we can improve the soil structure, promote root growth, improve cold resistance and reduce the overwintering base of pests, so as to facilitate apricot overwintering and lay a good foundation for its high yield in the coming year.

Drainage and waterlogging prevention

Because apricot trees are not resistant to waterlogging, especially those with hairy peaches as rootstocks, if there is stagnant water in the rainy season, it should be eliminated in time to prevent apricot trees from being susceptible to waterlogging and affecting the growth and development of apricot trees.
