Black heart disease of potato

Published: 2024-11-05 Author: mysheen
Last Updated: 2024/11/05, (disease diagnosis) it is mainly caused by the damage of potato storage. In the central part of the tuber, it forms an irregular pattern from black to blue-black, and develops into a black heart from point to tuber. With the serious development, the whole potato pieces can be discolored. The boundary of the victimization of the black heart is obvious. In the later stage, the black heart tissue gradually hardens. At room temperature, the black center can soften and turn black. Different tubers have very different responses to causing black hearts. (etiology) this is a physiological disease caused by respiratory asphyxia due to insufficient oxygen supply to the internal tissue of the tuber.

(disease diagnosis)

It is mainly the potato storage device that suffers.

(etiology)

This is a physiological disease caused by respiratory asphyxia caused by insufficient oxygen supply to the internal tissue of the tuber. In different environmental conditions, from the internal pink brown to necrosis, to the serious development of the black heart, are caused by hypoxia. When oxygen is removed from the tuber tissue or cannot reach the internal tissue, the black heart develops gradually. At the same time, the development of black heart is affected by temperature. When the temperature is low, the black heart develops slowly; but when the temperature is too low (0-2.5 ℃), the black heart develops rapidly; and at extremely high temperature (36-40 ℃), even if there is oxygen, it will develop because it can not spread quickly through the tissue. Therefore, too high, too low extreme temperature, too closed storage conditions (poor permeability), will aggravate the black heart disease.
