Liaonong 968 was bred by the Cultivation Institute of Liaoning Province Academy of Agricultural Sciences from the natural hybrid progeny of C57.

II. Characteristics:

1. Morphological characteristics: plant height 100CM, strong tillering, panicle length 17- 18CM, 90-100 seeds per panicle, high seed setting rate, no awns, semi-erect panicle type, leaves upward.

2. Growth period: about 158 days, 1-2 days earlier than Liaojing 294 and 1-2 days later than Liaojing 454-17.

3. Resistance: moderately resistant to rice blast, lightly susceptible to rice false smut.

III. Rice quality and yield:

The rice yield is higher than 454 without white knot. The yield is high, generally 550-600 kg per mu, and the high-yield field can reach more than 700 kg. The panicle is slightly larger than 294, so the yield is also higher than 294.

IV. Key points of cultivation

Dry seedling is adopted to cultivate strong seedlings. Because tillering is strong, it should be planted sparsely, with row spacing of 9×5 inches and 2-3 seedlings per hole. Apply sufficient base fertilizer and topdressing at appropriate time. Base fertilizer ammonium sulfate 20 kg, diammonium 10 kg. After the seedling is delayed, 20kg ammonium sulfate is mixed with herbicide, 15kg tiller fertilizer is applied at tillering stage, and 5- 7kg ear fertilizer is applied in the middle of July. Implement shallow water irrigation, tiller enough seedlings after drainage to promote root development, lodging prevention. Shallow-wet irrigation after sealing, water after the water does not see the water before harvest should not be withdrawn too early to prevent premature aging. In the middle of July, the pesticide was applied to control Chilo suppressalis, 10 days before heading and once at full heading stage to control rice false smut and rice blast.
