Huayu No. 5 soybean has large grain and high yield.

Wang Yuling, director of the soybean room of the Shijiazhuang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, who is conducting an investigation in the field, said that there are 1000 mu of arable land in Gongjiazhuang Village, all of which have planted the No. 5 soybean variety, with an average yield of 257.37 kg per mu measured by experts. Among them, 20 mu in Lubei have an average yield of 303.67 kg per mu. Wang Yuling said that in order not to give up, the villagers will sow the seeds and wait for the harvest. If the management is strengthened and the investment is increased, the output will be higher.

Soybean has always been regarded as a low-yield crop. Why can Huayu No. 5 rewrite its history? Director Wang Yuling expressed the temper and temperament of seducing No. 5 like a number of family members:

The grain is big. In general, the 100-grain weight of soybean variety is 18,19g, while that of Huayu No. 5 is about 28g. In the land with good fertilizer and water conditions, the 100-grain weight of this variety can reach more than 30g, which belongs to extra-large grain variety.

High yield. In two years (2003-2004), the provincial variety regional test and the provincial summer sowing soybean production trial (2004) won three first places in the yield of the tested varieties, which increased by 9.9% and 15.7% compared with the control varieties. In the two years, the average yield of the provincial regional test was 12.4% higher than that of the control varieties, and the provincial production test increased by 15.7%.

Disease resistance. After several years of field experiment and demonstration, this variety is highly resistant to any disease, and it is still clean green and yellow leaves until harvest, which lays a foundation for the growth and fullness of beans.

Fight it down. Huaiyou No. 5 is a compact plant type, the stem is erect and hard, the root system is developed, and the plant height is about 90 cm.

Good merchandise. This variety has oval grain, yellow seed coat, yellow navel, good appearance and excellent internal quality. According to the determination, the grain protein content is 43.86%, and the crude fat content is 19.63%.

Suitable for mechanized harvesting. This variety has no branches, the main stem bears pods, and the bottom pod is about 18 cm high. it has good deciduous leaves at maturity and does not crack pods, which is conducive to mechanized harvest.

It is understood that Huazhuang No. 5 is the Shijiazhuang Institute of Agricultural Sciences and the Shijiazhuang Institute of Agricultural Modernization of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The new high-yield soybean varieties selected by chemical mutagenesis were approved by Hebei crop Variety approval Committee in 2005 and began to be popularized in the summer soybean planting area in the middle and south of Hebei Province.
