According to its biological and ecological characteristics, agricultural technical measures can be adopted to break the dormancy period of seeds, improve germination rate, meet the needs of water and nutrition for the growth and development of licorice, and improve its biological yield. 1. Cultivation techniques of liquorice (1) seed treatment. The seed coat was broken by rice milling machine, and the germination rate could be increased from 30% to more than 80% if the seed was not broken twice. Licorice is a wild medicinal and forage plant. According to its biological and ecological characteristics, the adoption of agricultural technical measures can break the seed dormancy period, increase the germination rate, meet the needs of water and nutrition for the growth and development of licorice, and increase its biological yield.

1. Cultivation techniques of licorice

(1) seed treatment. When the seed coat is scraped by a rice grinder and the seed is not crushed, the effect of grinding twice is better, and the germination rate can be increased from 30% to more than 80%.

(2) site selection and land preparation before sowing. It can be planted on calcareous land of sandy land, sandy land and beach land, and the effect of sandy land and sandy land is the best. Sowing plots are required to be flat, no clods, and easy to irrigate. combined with base fertilizer, diammonium phosphate is applied 5: 10 kg per mu.

(3) sowing seeds. The sowing date is from mid-April to mid-June; the sowing amount per mu is 0.25kg / mu; the sowing depth is 1cm / mu; the row spacing is 40cm / mu.

(4) field management. Weeding at seedling stage to keep the ground free of weeds, and to keep the ground moist at seedling stage to ensure irrigation at branching, budding and flowering stage, it is appropriate to irrigate for 3 or 4 times in one growing season.

(5) harvest. After 2 years of aboveground growth, it can be harvested and fed to livestock every year, or grazed for livestock. The underground part (root) grows for 4 ~ 5 years, that is, when it reaches the grade of licorice, it can be harvested by digging or harvesting.

(6) Application effect. In the fourth year of growth, the fresh root of licorice was 700-710 kg per mu, the output value was 1100-1200 yuan per mu (1994 purchase price), and the livestock carrying capacity was 15 sheep units per 100 mu.

2. Licorice replanting technique

On the natural grassland, the original vegetation is not destroyed, but on the degraded, sparse or bare land, sowing or sowing is carried out in the rainy season or under the condition of sprinkler irrigation, with a sowing rate of 2kg (seed treatment as above). In the third year after replanting, the coverage of grassland vegetation increased from 10% 15% to 60% 80%; the grass yield increased by 4% 6 times, of which licorice accounted for 40% 60%; and the root mu storage of licorice reached 200,450 kg.
