Rust of carnation
[pathogen] Uromycescaryophyllinus (Schrank) Wint., belongs to the subphylum of fungal basidiomycetes and monospore rust. The rust fungus is produced by the transferred host.
[symptoms] the disease is mainly harmful to leaves, but also to stems and calyx. The injured site initially showed small light-colored protuberant spots, followed by yellow around. When severe occurs, leaves and stems are twisted. In the growing season, a small brown powder pile appears on the back of the susceptible leaf or on the stem and sepals, that is, the summer spore pile of the pathogen, and the black powder pile appears at the injured place in autumn and winter, that is, the winter spore pile of the pathogen.
[incidence regularity] the pathogen overwintered on the susceptible plants. In the following spring, teliospores germinate to produce basidiospores and spores; basidiospores infect Euphorbia plants and form sexual spore organs and gonadospore organs on the leaves. After dipping and infecting carnation, summer spores form a heap of summer spores; summer spores spread with wind or water and are re-infected. Teliospore piles are produced at the end of the growing season.
[epidemic characteristics] High temperature and humidity are beneficial to the epidemic of the disease.
[prevention and control measures]
a. Strengthen the ventilation in the greenhouse and keep the temperature about 15 ℃ as far as possible. The cool and dry environment is beneficial to the growth of carnation but disadvantageous to the development of rust.
b. Cuttings should be taken from disease-free plants when propagating and raising seedlings.
c. Avoid sprinkler irrigation which is beneficial to the spread of germs. if sprinkler irrigation is needed, it should be carried out on a sunny day.
d. During the onset period, 50% Weiling 1000 times or 65% Dysen zinc 600 times can be sprayed, or the agent can be proportionally mixed into the modern irrigation system for application.

Carnation etchedring virus (CaERV), lethal temperature 80-85℃. The survival time in vitro is 140 days. [Symptoms] Annular or wide linear necrotic spots appear on leaves, which are more obvious on seedlings. In severe cases, necrotic spots are connected and leaves are twisted.
