Honeysuckle is a perennial plant with hollow stems, opposite leaves and oval shape, which can benefit from one planting for decades. It has strong adaptability, cold and heat resistance, waterlogging and drought resistance, salt and alkali resistance, sufficient sunshine, lax requirements for moisture and soil, and grows well on loose and fertile sandy soil. It can be planted in mountainous areas, hills, plains, dams and around the courtyard in front and behind the house.

Planting honeysuckle can not only obtain considerable economic income, but also conserve soil and water and green the environment. Generally, the yield of dried flowers per mu is 130 kg ~ 250 kg, and the economic benefit is more than 5000kg ~ 12,000 yuan. In the spring of 2003, the price of honeysuckle reached more than 320 yuan per kilogram. Zhai Guanghua, a farmer technician in Gaozhuang Village, Xuzhuang Town, Shanting District, Zaozhuang City, earned more than 10000 yuan for breeding the new variety of "Shanhua No.1" honeysuckle.

Breeding method

The main results are as follows: 1. Cutting propagation is carried out from September to October in autumn. Select a good seedling bed, cut 1-2-year-old strong branches, cut into cuttings 25 cm ~ 35 cm long, remove the lower leaves, and then trench on the border according to 20 cm ~ 25 cm row spacing, ditch depth 15 cm ~ 18 cm, according to plant spacing 5 cm ~ 10 cm obliquely inserted in the ditch, 8 cm ~ 10 cm exposed on the ground, solid filling, watering. If treated with abt rooting powder, the survival rate will be higher.

2. The persistent roots of 2 ~ 3 years old with strong plant type, large root circumference, dark green stems and leaves, disease-free and pest-free were selected for ramet propagation. The survival rate was more than 90% when the "the Beginning of Winter" plants were transplanted before they germinated from "stinging" to the following year.

3. The seeds are propagated, the fruits are picked in November, scrubbed in water, the mature seeds are taken to dry, and in April of the following year, the germinated seeds are sown on the flat bed.

Selection of species

Select varieties with fast clockwork, strong branches sprouting, early flowering and long flowering period, such as Shanhua No. 1, Honeysuckle No. 5 and so on. The variety characteristics of "Shanhua No. 1" are introduced as follows: the flowering period of this variety is very long, it can blossom continuously for up to 5 months a year, and blossoms around May 12 every year in southern Shandong, with a full flowering period of 9 ~ 12 days, and continuously picking buds in the following 4 months; extremely high yield, the maximum yield of dried flowers per pier is 1.2 kg, and the yield per mu of dried flowers can reach 250 kg. The leaves of the four seasons are evergreen, the growth is extremely exuberant, the branches are long and thick, and it is easy to drag seedlings; its root system is developed, adaptable, cold and heat-resistant, waterlogging and drought-resistant, saline-alkali resistant, and the rhizome becomes thick and fast, so it is a good variety for making bonsai of honeysuckle; it likes sufficient sunshine, has lax requirements on moisture and soil, and grows well on loose and fertile sandy soil. It can be planted in thin mountains, plains, dams, beaches and around the courtyard in front and behind the house. The bud of "Shanhua No.1" is very large, rich in chlorogenic acid and volatile oil, good quality, very popular with consumers.

Colonization

It can be planted in early spring or autumn. The hole was dug with a row spacing of 1.1 m × 1.5 m and a depth of 35 cm. The hole was covered with a layer of soil fertilizer and covered with a layer of fine soil, then 2 ~ 4 plants were planted in each hole, pressed with fine soil and poured through the root water.

Field management

The main results are as follows: 1. Three times a year, the first weeding was carried out after the ground thawed in early spring, the second from July to August, and the third before the frost at the end of autumn. Combine with ploughing to cultivate the soil so as not to expose the flower roots to the ground.

2, fertilization every year in early spring or early winter, open ring-shaped ditches around the flower stump, each pier into about 500 grams of soil manure or barnyard manure, 100 grams of potassium sulfate. After the first stubble flowers are harvested, 100 grams of ternary compound fertilizer is applied to provide nutrients for the next stubble flowers.

3. Pruning into winter or early spring, cut off the top of the branch to promote the lower part of the branch gradually stout, and can grow upright. The larger flower stump should remove the old dead branches and ineffective inner branches, the vigorous ones should be cut lightly, and the weak ones should be re-cut, and the flower stump should be trimmed into an umbrella shape, so that the tufted branches can be ventilated and light, and more flower branches can be produced.

4. in order to increase the yield, oxytocin can be sprayed every 10 days before budding in early April for a total of 3 times, and once every 5 days until the end of flower picking. If aphids are found, 10% imidacloprid can be sprayed with 3500 times of wettable powder to control aphids.
