Summer is the off-season for cultivation and production of various edible mushrooms in China, and the fresh mushroom market is out of supply. Therefore, it is of great significance to carry out high temperature mushroom breeding and establish a set of comprehensive cultivation techniques to make mushrooms grow more than two seasons a year in China, which will enrich mushroom varieties in China, improve mushroom quality and meet mushroom market demand. Through more than ten years of hard research, scientific researchers have successfully cultivated a high-temperature mushroom "Xiagu 93" suitable for summer cultivation, proved the biological characteristics of this variety, put forward a complete set of high-yield cultivation techniques suitable for China's national conditions, such as seed conservation, seed propagation and pest control, and put forward two key technologies to solve the difficulty of hypha climbing soil and competitive miscellaneous bacteria damage in high temperature period. "Xiagu 93" is the first new double-ring mushroom variety reported in China, bred by systematic breeding method and suitable for summer cultivation. The hypha growth temperature range of this variety is 18℃~38℃, the optimum growth temperature is 27℃~28℃, the fruiting temperature range is 25℃~34℃, the optimum fruiting temperature is 27℃~32℃, the fruiting body can continue to grow at 38℃, suitable for high temperature cultivation in summer. The variety has stable seed character, high yield, the highest yield of small test can reach 20Kg/m2, the general yield is 7.5Kg/m2, the highest yield is 11- 12Kg/m2, the mushroom quality is good, the storage and transportation resistance is long, and it is suitable for fresh sale and processing.

The variety was approved by Zhejiang Province Crop Variety Approval Committee in April 2000, filling in the blank of summer mushroom cultivated varieties under natural conditions in China. The project utilizes the existing mushroom houses to cultivate high-temperature mushrooms in summer idle period, improves the utilization rate of mushroom houses, reduces the cost of mushroom planting, prolongs the supply period of fresh mushrooms, enriches the summer varieties of edible mushrooms, meets the market demand, and has broad popularization and application prospects.

From 1998 to 2002, the research achievement was demonstrated and popularized in more than 20 provinces and cities such as Zhejiang, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Fujian, Guangdong, etc., with an accumulated popularization area of 3.2 million square meters, providing 23,000 tons of fresh mushrooms for edible fungi in summer off-season, increasing social output value by 196 million yuan, and increasing economic benefits by 108 million yuan. The social, economic and ecological benefits are very remarkable. This achievement reaches the leading level of similar research in China.
