Last Updated: 2024/11/06, Peach gummy disease is a common physiological disease in peach trees, which mainly occurs in branches and has a great impact on the growth and development of peach trees. In addition to peaches, apricots, plums, plums, cherries and other stone fruit trees will also occur. Harmful symptoms: the disease can occur in any part of peach tree branches. The part of the disease is slightly swollen and the wood turns brown, then secretes a transparent glue from the lenticels or wounds, gradually turns yellowish brown to brown after contact with air, and finally becomes a black lump. The bark of the diseased part is rough, cracked, not easy to heal, and is easy to become a red neck sky.

The bark of the diseased part is rough, cracked and not easy to heal, so it is easy to become the spawning site of red-necked longicorn beetles, causing harm to red-necked longicorn beetles. When the disease is serious, the tree soon weakens and even dies. In addition to the shoot, the phenomenon of glue flow also occurs on the fruit.

Disease regularity: glue flow is a physiological lesion of peach trees. There are many reasons for glue flow, such as all kinds of conditions that hinder the normal growth and development of trees, such as improper fertilization (lack of fertilizer or too much nitrogen fertilizer), heavy soil viscosity, poor drainage, heavy pruning in summer, deep planting, too much fruit, continuous cropping, hail injury, freezing injury, sun burning and so on.

The phenomenon of gum flow can occur during the whole growth period of peach trees, but it occurs most frequently in rainy seasons such as Meiyu and Taiwan wind. The occurrence of old trees and weak trees is more serious.

Prevention and control methods:

The main results are as follows: (1) strengthening fertilization, drainage, pest control and soil management, reasonable pruning and pruning, preventing excessive fruit, avoiding continuous cropping, and paying attention to preventing frost injury and sunburn to promote the strength of peach trees are the fundamental measures to prevent or reduce gum flow.

(2) after glue flow is produced, curettage can be carried out in winter. The wound is disinfected with Baume 5-10 degrees stone sulfur mixture or 100x copper sulfate solution, and protected by coal tar, or brushed the wound with 1:4 alkali water, which has a certain curative effect.
