New varieties of Carnation with large Flowers
1. Variety introduction: The Flower Institute of Yunnan Province Academy of Agricultural Sciences undertook the scientific and technological research project of "New Variety Selection of Big Flower Carnation" of Provincial Science and Technology Department in the late period of "Ninth Five-Year Plan". A batch of new varieties (strains) of cut flower carnation have been bred. Some new varieties have shown good production suitability and market marketability after small-scale trial planting by flower farmers. 4 new carnation variety rights were applied to Plant New Variety Protection Office of Ministry of Agriculture. Among them, Yunhong No. 1 has 16% longer cut flower branches and 12% larger bud diameter than the foreign variety Master, which is the same red color and has the largest planting area at present. Other new varieties (lines) show obvious differences (ornamental characters) with their similar foreign varieties, but no big changes in agronomic characters, and have certain substitution in production.
At present, there are no reports about the application of other self-bred new varieties in production in China. After the achievement is transformed, firstly, the situation that the cultivated varieties of cut carnation are completely monopolized by foreigners in production is broken; secondly, the truly protected varieties are used in production, which opens a good start for the benign development of China's carnation industry and improves the image of domestic producers; thirdly, the high license fee that must be paid for using foreign varieties is reduced; Fourthly, remove the obstacles of variety right when cut flower products are exported to international market, so as to improve the competitiveness of cut flower products in international market.
Simple bamboo plastic greenhouse in central Yunnan Province and sunlight greenhouse in northern China can meet the needs of cut carnation production.
