Carnation rust
Rust is one of the common diseases of Dianthus chinensis. There are variety differences in susceptibility. Generally occurs in the autumn and winter season when control is neglected, and occurs heavily in the continuous cropping land with serious disease before. The whole plant was damaged, especially the leaves. Reddish brown spots appeared on the front and back of the diseased leaves, and the epidermis around the diseased part was broken, revealing red powder, that is, urediospores. In the later stage, the color of the diseased part deepened, and black brown to black powder appeared after the epidermis was broken, that is, the tetraspore pile of the pathogen. Rust can also damage the stems and sepals of Dianthus chinensis.
Carnation rust is caused by single spore rust of carnation, which is a fungus.
The pathogen overwinters on Dianthus chinensis as tetraspore pile, and is transmitted by wind in spring of next year, infecting Euphorbiaceae plants and transferring to Dianthus chinensis through development stage.
Control method: During the disease period, pesticide control is the main method, 20% chlorpheniramine EC 400 times solution or 65% zinc wettable powder 500 times solution can be selected, 0.3 Baume sulfur mixture can be sprayed, about 10 days spray once, continuous spray 2-3 times, in order to control the spread of diseases.
