Nutritional characteristics: high yield of potato, low crude fiber content of tuber (4.4%), high biological potency of protein, and about 80% of dry matter of tuber is starch, which is higher than ordinary crops according to the amount of digestible energy and protein produced per unit area. The energy value is slightly higher than that of sweet potato, but lower than that of corn; the content of crude protein is about 9%, which is higher than that of cassava and sweet potato, the content of lysine is higher than that of corn; the content of carotene is very low, and the content of other vitamins is similar to that of corn. Potatoes contain antitrypsin factor

1. Nutritional characteristics

Potato yield is high, tuber crude fiber content is low (4.4%), protein biological value is high, and about 80% of tuber dry matter is starch, digestible energy and protein quantity produced by unit area are higher than those of ordinary crops. Energy value is slightly higher than sweet potato, but lower than maize.

The crude protein content is about 9%, higher than cassava and sweet potato, lysine content is higher than corn.

Carotene content is very low, and other vitamin content is close to corn.

Potatoes contain antitrypsin factors that interfere with protein digestion.

Potato plants contain a toxic ligand, solanine (solanine), which is the highest content in berries (0.56%~1.08% of fresh weight), followed by light buds (0.37%~0.73%). Livestock and poultry can be poisoned if they eat too much.

2. Feeding value

Potato palatability is good, feed to cattle, sheep and horse raw or ripe feed effect is similar. But for pigs, cooked feed can improve palatability and digestibility, raw feed not only reduces digestibility, but also stunts growth, potato after cooking, can improve its digestibility. Under the same feeding conditions, the weight gain effect of cooked feed was better than that of raw feed. In the vast rural areas of our country, potato is a high-quality feed for pigs.

The potato powder processed by slicing, drying and crushing can be added 20%-30% in broiler feed, about 10% in laying hen diet, and 50% corn in pork pig feed. As a supplementary concentrate for ruminant livestock, it works better if it is used in combination with non-protein nitrogen such as urea.

Normal mature potato, each kilogram of fresh weight only contains 2~10mg solanine, the content of more than 20mg before there is a poisoning risk, so potato feed, generally no poisoning risk, only in the tuber storage period, when the potato storage is improper, see the sun germination into green, the solanine content increased sharply, generally in the tuber green skin, bud eyes and buds most. Therefore, germinated potatoes must be removed from the buds and green parts before feeding, and cooked. The boiled water cannot be used.
