At present, mango cultivation is dominated by improved varieties of mango, such as Ai Wen Mango, with the largest planting area in Tainan City, followed by Pingtung, while Pingtung is concentrated in Kuiliao Township, Mangshan Township and other places, and because climatic factors are also the earliest places in Taiwan to harvest mangoes, they are now on the market one after another. Although mangoes are generally growing well in various places this year, farmers in Fenggang in Weishan reported that the number of blossoms was much shorter than that of last year.

Lin Rongji, head of Fenggang Village in Fenggang Township, Weishan Township, said that originally it was supposed to be the mango fruiting period in Fenggang Village, but this year the flowers are smaller, the number of flowers is less than 20% last year, and the follow-up results are not very good. He also said that the situation in the Fenggang area in Luoshan Township is more serious.

The damage to mangoes is diverse. Li Xueru, an associate researcher at the Kaohsiung Agricultural improvement Farm, said that during a recent survey in Fenggang, it was found that some of the parks were not growing well, but the factors were very diverse. Some were not blooming, some were poor fruiting, and some were the causes of diseases and insect pests.

Li Xueru explained that the reason why mango trees do not bloom may be due to the abundance of mangoes last year, which led to the late end of the production period, while Mangshan mango farmers are used to pruning with "shaved heads" (the whole mango tree has only branches left) after harvest, resulting in insufficient time for branch cultivation to blossom smoothly. If the flowering and fruiting is not good, the reasons are also very diverse, including diseases and insect pests, lack of pollination insect rope, and so on. This year, it has been repeatedly reported that the situation of "passing through the south wind" will also lead to poor pollination.

Li Xueru said that in terms of several orchards surveyed, mango has a poor fertility. In addition, in a warm winter this year, she also called on farmers to pay more attention to the prevention and control of diseases and insect pests. Yao Zhiwang, director of the South Division of the Agriculture and Food Department, also said that in the future, the agricultural reform farm will be asked to conduct lectures to assist farmers in field management.
