Rice Research Institute of Jilin Academy of Agricultural Sciences selected "High quality Rice Variety"

In the evaluation of high-quality rice varieties (lines) in Jilin Province, "Jijing 81" and "Jijing 83" selected by the Rice Research Institute of Jilin Academy of Agricultural Sciences were appraised as "high-quality rice varieties", and six other lines were appraised as "high-quality rice lines".

It is reported that this high-quality rice variety (strain) evaluation activity is the third evaluation activity held after 1995 and 1998. The 10 high-quality rice varieties selected in the previous two years have been widely used in production because of their good quality and high yield, with a cumulative extension area of 1.2 million hectares in three years. A large number of processed rice are sold abroad and Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong and other provinces and cities.

The two high-quality varieties and six high-quality strains selected this time were selected from among the 28 varieties (lines) evaluated by the evaluation committee through comprehensive evaluation of rice milling, appearance, cooking, nutrition and taste in accordance with the relevant evaluation standards of the Ministry of Agriculture.

Jilin Province is a famous high-quality japonica rice producing area in China. According to Li Xueqin, deputy director of the Provincial Committee of Agriculture, in order to create the brand of "Jilin rice", improve the competitiveness of Jilin rice in domestic and foreign markets, and open up the grain market, since 1995, Jilin Province has begun to select high-quality rice varieties that meet the needs of production and development and market needs, and vigorously promote the use of them. At present, the sown area of improved rice varieties selected and bred in the province has accounted for more than 90% of the total area, completely changing the situation that high-quality rice varieties rely entirely on the introduction from Japan.
