Last Updated: 2024/11/08, Rice is high-yielding, but afraid of thirst; upland rice is drought-tolerant, but its yield is slightly lower. Shanghai rice experts skillfully integrated the advantages of high yield of rice and drought tolerance of upland rice into one grain of rice to produce the world's first water-saving and drought-resistant hybrid rice "Hanyou 3". The author saw a few days ago that the mature "Hanyou 3"tired" bent: 110 grains per panicle, the yield per mu is better than conventional rice, and the rice field saves more than 50% of water. Xinmi can be listed in Shanghai at the end of the month. Tested by professional departments, the rice quality of "Hanyou 3" has reached the second-class high-quality rice standard of the Ministry of Agriculture.

The author saw a few days ago that the mature "Hanyou 3"tired" bent: 110 grains per panicle, the yield per mu is better than conventional rice, and the rice field saves more than 50% of water. New rice can be listed in Shanghai at the end of the month. Tested by professional departments, the rice quality of "Hanyou 3" reaches the second-class high-quality rice standard of the Ministry of Agriculture, which is equivalent to that of "Hanyou Xiangqing", the high-quality hybrid rice with the largest planting area in Shanghai.

The first harvest performed well.

Among the 430 million mu of rice fields in China, there are only 30% high-yield fields. For a long time, scientists in Shanghai have been struggling to find high-yielding rice varieties that save water and resist drought.

Upland rice and rice are "brothers". Their common ancestor is wild rice growing on the edge of swamp ponds. Later, those who "go into the water" grow into rice, and those who "go up the mountain" grow into upland rice. The breeding level of upland rice in China is relatively backward. New upland rice varieties such as "Zhonghan 3", "Huhan 3" and "Huhan 15" have been bred in Shanghai, and the yield per mu has been increased to 350 kg. However, compared with the brothers with an average yield of 500 kg per mu, these improved upland rice are still "slightly inferior".

In 2003, Shanghai Agricultural Biogene Center found the first upland rice male sterile line "Huhan 1A" in the world, which made it possible for upland hybrid rice. Last year, Luo Lijun, chief scientist of the center, led a research team to complete three-line matching, successfully crossing upland rice for the first time and breeding water-saving and drought-resistant hybrid rice.

This year, 50 mu of "Hanyou 3" in the suburbs of Shanghai was harvested for the first time, showing an outstanding performance. It not only has the advantage of high yield of rice, with a yield of more than 550 kg per mu, and its rice quality and yield are comparable to that of rice, but also has the "thrifty virtue" of upland rice, saving more than 400 tons of water per mu.

Increase production without forgetting energy saving and emission reduction

China's freshwater resources are limited, and rice fields drink 56% of the country's total water consumption every year. As the output of "super rice" has repeatedly reached new highs, the pesticide, fertilizer and water consumption of rice fields have increased exponentially.

In contrast, "Hanyou 3" has outstanding advantages in energy saving and emission reduction: it has strong disease resistance, grows fast, the whole growth period is only 106days, harvests more than 40 days earlier than ordinary rice, avoids the period of high incidence of diseases and insect pests in paddy fields, and the number of times of fertilization is only 1/3 of that of paddy fields, saving nearly 160yuan per mu.

The "lazy man" also has a bumper harvest in growing rice.

"Water-saving and drought-resistant hybrid rice was born in Shanghai, but it is determined to serve the central and western regions." According to Luo Lijun, "Hanyou 3" has been introduced and planted in Guangxi, Hubei, Hunan, Sichuan, Yunnan, Chongqing, * * and other places, and local farmers praise it: direct seeding and planting is simple; with less watering, "lazy" rice planting can also get a good harvest. Last year and this year, "Hanyou 3" obtained new variety approval in Shanghai and Guangxi respectively, and began to popularize and plant on a large scale.
