Diagnosis and treatment of pig distiller's grains poisoning

The pathological changes of 2 dead pigs showed that the contents of the stomach smelled of alcohol, the bottom of the stomach was congested and bleeding, and the gastric mucosa was easy to fall off; the edge of the liver was pure round and the section was everted; the gallbladder was full of bile and doubled; there were hyperemia and hemorrhagic spots in endocardium and subcutaneous tissue; pulmonary edema and hemorrhage; kidney swelling and pallor; mesenteric and subcutaneous edema; meningeal vascular congestion, cerebral parenchyma hemorrhage.

In laboratory examination, no bacteria were found in spleen, hilar lymph nodes, hilar lymph nodes, mesenteric lymph nodes and mesenteric lymph nodes of dead pigs. Examination of gastric contents revealed ethanol and acetic acid and other components.

Diagnosis according to the medical history investigation, the pigs in the winery were fed with distiller's grains for a long time. Usually there are individual pigs with disease, the use of penicillin, streptomycin and analgin treatment is not cured and died. It was diagnosed as pig lees poisoning from clinical symptoms, pathological anatomical changes and laboratory tests.

Prevention and control measures (1) all pigs are temporarily suspended from feeding distiller's grains. Pigs with appetite take 5% quicklime clarification solution internally, each time take about 1000ml, twice a day, until cured. (2) Vitamin B1, B6, C and K3 were injected intramuscularly with vitamin B1, B6, C and K3 every time, twice a day until cured; at the same time, 200~300ml was injected intravenously with 5% sodium bicarbonate solution to alleviate acidosis; Chinese herbal medicine: Scutellaria baicalensis, gentian, mung bean, licorice, water spinach root decoction. For 5 severely diseased pigs, each pig was injected with penicillin 80-1.2 million IU intramuscularly, twice a day for 2 days, and 5% glucose saline was injected intravenously for each 300~500ml. One patient died on the second day of treatment, and all the rest were cured after 4 days. (3) the pigs were fed mainly with distiller's grains after rehabilitation, and proper amount of baking soda powder was added to the feed. After follow-up, there was no distiller's grains poisoning in the farm.
