Skillfully using Shenling Atractylodes macrocephala decoction to treat diarrhea due to spleen deficiency in cattle and horses

Shenling Atractylodes macrocephala powder from the medicine bureau, the main treatment of spleen and stomach weakness, indigestion, weight loss, limb weakness, fecal diarrhea and other diseases. In many years of veterinary clinical practice, modified Huazai prescription has been used in the treatment of diarrhea due to spleen deficiency in cattle and horses (including dyspepsia, gastrointestinal catarrh) and secondary diseases such as constipation, enteritis, forestomach relaxation and so on. It is now introduced later.

1. Discussion on the etiology

The main cause of spleen deficiency diarrhea is spleen and stomach dysfunction. The stomach is a sea of water valley, and the spleen dominates the movement of fine; if the spleen and stomach is affected by disease, it affects the digestion and absorption of water grain forage, resulting in clear turbid, mixed and down, and walking through the large intestine, it becomes catharsis. From the analysis of the causes of 228 cases, there are mainly the following aspects.

(1) discussion on the etiology.

Attacked by the evil of cold and dampness, the evil of dampness can most cause diarrhea. The spleen likes dryness and hates dampness, while dampness exudes diarrhea. Due to the cold climate, livestock overdrink cold water or overeat frozen forage, cold and dampness damage the spleen and stomach, resulting in cold diarrhea.

(2) due to improper feeding, long-term overwork of livestock, lack of forage, malnutrition, imbalance of temper, lack of yang, resulting in cold stomach, can not rot water and grain forage, causing diarrhea.

(3) deficiency of kidney yang, decline of Mingmen fire, thinness of animal body, decline of digestive function, and no ripening of cereal forage, which leads to diarrhea. In addition, the ancients also said that "the kidney is the closure of the stomach". The kidney yang is insufficient, the door is not closed, so the stool is released. As Zhang Jingyue said, "the kidney is the key to the stomach, and the opening and closing of the two bowels is the master of the kidney." Today, if there is not enough yang in the kidney, the life door will fail, and when the yang-cold is at its peak, it will not only regulate and release it.

(4) due to the stagnation of gastrointestinal feces, the method of accumulation of bitter cold was repeatedly used to injure the spleen-yang and cause diarrhea.

2. Main symptoms

The suffering animal is mentally depressed, emaciated, the hair is reversed, the nose, ear root, horn root, lower extremities have a cold, loss of appetite or abstinence, hyperactivity of intestinal sound, increased defecation times, thin stool, even diarrhea, such as water sample with foam, thick and long dung, sometimes mixed with undigested feed, no big smell of feces, short urine, more mouth fluid, low mouth temperature, pale mouth color, slow pulse. Some are hidden under the eye sockets, or edema in the lower abdominal extremities or tail-hijacking.

3. Treatment

Treatment principle: invigorating spleen dryness and dampness, promoting diuresis and stopping diarrhea.

Modified Shenling Baizhu decoction: 45 grams of Codonopsis pilosula, 60 grams of Poria cocos, 45 grams of Atractylodes macrocephala, 120 grams of lentils, 90 grams of yam, 60 grams of Coix seed, 20 grams of sand seed, 30 grams of moxibustion licorice, 60 grams of pomegranate peel, 250 grams of Zaoxin soil, decoction 2 times, one dose a day.

Prescription solution: Sijunzi decoction tonifying qi and invigorating spleen, yam, Coix seed and lentil for spleen dryness and dampness, cooking heart, warming spleen and stopping diarrhea, pomegranate skin acid and dampness to stop diarrhea, Amomum villosum regulating qi and resolving stagnation, tonifying qi and invigorating spleen, dryness and dampness to stop diarrhea, tonifying but not yong effect.

Add and subtract: when the yang is declining and cold qi is flourishing, clear water is poured down, thunder in the abdomen, dung and dregs are thick and long; the pulse is slow, adding aconite, dried ginger and cinnamon; if the Mingmen fire is failing, the end is cold, the pulse is weak, the abdomen is distended, psoralen, Evodia, Schisandra; urination is disadvantageous, under the abdomen, limbs are swollen, drink plus Polyporus umbellata, plantain.

4. Summary and experience

(4) in many years of veterinary clinical practice, the author believes that as long as livestock have loss of appetite, diarrhea of stool, thick and long dregs, emaciation, hyperphonia and bluish mouth, 228 cases of diarrhea due to spleen deficiency of cattle and horses were treated with Atractylodes macrocephala decoction, including 148 cases of yellow cattle, 34 cases of buffaloes and 46 cases of horses. The total cure rate was more than 90%.

(2) from the etiological analysis, diarrhea due to spleen deficiency can be caused by deficiency of spleen and stomach, or by deficiency of kidney yang and deficiency of real fire can not help spleen deficiency or cold-damp evil qi invasion. From the perspective of symptoms, as long as the limbs reverse cold, the pulse is slow or dying, and the mouth color is blue and white, aconite, dried ginger and cinnamon can be added to return to yang in temperature; diarrhea is more serious, it can be properly added to the heart soil, pomegranate peel, Wumei and cheeses to absorb astringency with dampness and acid, so that the water dampness can be dispersed and the diarrhea can be stopped. Therefore, if we grasp the main cause of the main disease, connect the relationship between Zang-fu organs and the compatibility of drugs, we can apply flexibly.
