4 Prevention and control

PCV2 has strong resistance to the inactivation of many detergents and disinfectants, and the effect of drug application is limited, so it is very important for pig farms to change feeding techniques, improve sanitary conditions and reduce stress in different periods in order to reduce "infection pressure" (including PCV2 and any other pathogens).

4.1 delivery period

4.1.1 all in and out, thoroughly washed and disinfected between the two batches of pigs

4.1.2 washing sows and deworming before delivery

4.1.3 restrict cross-lactation and, if necessary, within 24 hours after delivery.

4.2 weaning and growth and fattening period

4.2.1 Pigpen is small and well separated

4.2.2 empty pig pens, thoroughly clean and disinfect

4.2.3 reduce feeding density

4.2.4 increase feeder space

4.2.5 improve air quality

4.2.6 improve the temperature control facilities in the house

4.2.7 No mixed breeding between batches and batches.

4.3 other measures adhere to a strict all-in-all-out system

4.3.1 strict health care measures, such as navel cutting, tail cutting, ear number cutting must be carefully disinfected, iron supplement, broken teeth, tail cutting, etc., special care should be given when castration, deworming of breeding pigs and piglets should be scheduled, and so on.

4.3.2 appropriate vaccination plan and pay attention to the use of antibiotics before and after vaccination to ensure a consistent high level of immunity in the whole group.

4.3.3 keep the air flowing in the building, keep the temperature relatively stable, kill mosquitoes and rodents regularly, and prevent other wildlife from entering the pig house.

4.3.4 set up isolation rooms to remove or cull sick pigs from the production group as early as possible, so as to reduce the spread of pathogenic microorganisms.

5 treatment

The therapeutic effect of PMWS is very poor, and now foreign countries try to use serum therapy, which has achieved substantial success in reducing mortality. The specific method is to take the blood of healthy adult pigs from PMWS pig farm, extract serum, add 0.25mg enrofloxacin per milliliter, pack and freeze them separately, and subcutaneously inject 3mL/ into piglets 7 days after birth. It is also reported that the use of immunomodulator and feedback method can improve the clinical condition to some extent, but the effect is unstable or even aggravated, which may be related to the immune system of diseased pigs.
