Last Updated: 2024/11/05, Trichophyton rubrum is a highly contact ectoparasitic disease caused by scabies mite and itch mite. It can occur all the year round, but it occurs most frequently and spreads most rapidly in winter and spring. The disease is also known as toad, lime foot, dry claw disease. First, clinical symptoms scabies mites cause tinea pedis and tinea corporis. Often because of severe itching on objects such as cages, scratching with claws, gnawing with mouth, hair falling off. Trichophyton rubrum is a highly contact ectoparasitic disease caused by scabies mite and itch mite. It can occur all the year round, but it occurs most frequently and spreads most rapidly in winter and spring. The disease is also known as toad, lime foot, dry claw disease.

First, clinical symptoms

Scabies mites cause tinea pedis and tinea corporis. Often because of severe itching on objects such as cages, scratching with claws, gnawing with mouth, hair falling off. After the skin blister breaks, the skin forms a scab, the subcutaneous lymph exudates, the scab gradually thickens, and the skin forms chapped. The disease of rabbits generally starts from the mouth, feet, lips, nose, eye circumference, ear tip and other parts, and then develops to the whole body. The rabbit body gradually lost weight and anemia, which greatly affected the development of the rabbit.

Itch mite causes tinea otoris, parasitic external auditory canal, inflammation of the affected part, local depilation of the external ear and auditory canal, scab, and toilet paper after drying. The sick rabbit kept scratching its ears because of severe itching.

II. Laboratory inspection

Scrape the dandruff at the junction of the lesion and the normal skin with a sharp spoon (until you see blood), put the disease material on a glass slide, add a drop of liquid paraffin, cover the glass slide, and detect mites under a low power microscope, which can be diagnosed as rabbit scabies.

III. Prevention

1. Strengthen feeding management, keep the rabbit house dry and hygienic, and disinfect regularly (can be disinfected by flame disinfection or 3% trichlorfon aqueous solution spray).

two。 It is not introduced from the rabbit farm with the disease. If you need to buy breeding rabbits from other places, they should be isolated and observed, raised for 1 month, and be sure to be disease-free before mixing.

3. The imported rabbits were bathed with medicine (dipping claws and ear drops with 2% trichlorfon aqueous solution).

4. Healthy rabbits take preventive measures every year before the disease season, that is, once a year in spring and autumn (dipping claws and ear drops with 2% trichlorfon aqueous solution).

5. Quechongba mixture was fed on an empty stomach, and the medicine was repeated once a year twice a year after 7 days.

IV. Treatment

1. Before taking medicine, remove the scab with kerosene, and then apply 2% trichlorfon alcohol solution every 7 days until cured.

two。 Ivermectin or avermectin was injected subcutaneously at a dose of 0.1 mg per kilogram of body weight, followed by another injection 7 days later.

No matter which method is used, rabbit houses, cages, water tanks, material troughs, etc., should be disinfected (can be disinfected by flame disinfection or 3% trichlorfon aqueous solution spray).

After comprehensive treatment, the skin scab of the diseased rabbits began to fall off on the fifth day after treatment, the itching symptoms disappeared, the coat showed luster, the appetite of the rabbits increased and the mental state was good.

Trichophyton scabies is a highly contagious ectoparasitic disease, which infects the whole population quickly in one rabbit, with stubborn disease, high mortality and great economic loss. Local treatment, no matter what kind of drugs are used, is difficult to achieve the goal of radical cure. However, feeding insect repellent and subcutaneous injection of ivermectin is the most thorough, effective, economical and practical control method. As long as this method has been used continuously for 2-3 years, it can completely achieve the goal of radical cure for the rabbit farms where the disease is prevalent.
