The symptoms of potato poisoning in poultry are low spirits, loss of appetite, dyskinesia and diarrhea. General body temperature is not high, when the condition is serious, there are elevated body temperature, coma, convulsions and dyspnea and other phenomena, and finally died of respiratory paralysis.

The treatment is as follows: for poisoned sick birds, they can be fed with light saline or sugar water, or given an appropriate amount of 0.02% potassium permanganate or 0.5% tannic acid solution, and other measures can be taken for symptomatic treatment.

The precaution is that poultry do not feed germinated or rotten potatoes. When using sprouted potatoes as feed, be sure to remove the buds and cook them fully. Potato buds, stems and leaves, and flower buds also contain toxins. If they are used as feed, they must be treated (such as sun-drying or silage fermentation) before feeding.
