Last Updated: 2024/11/21, The cotton and potato interplanting model has a large application area in northern Jiangsu, the symbiotic period of the two crops is not long, the mutual influence during the symbiotic period is small, and there is a complementary effect in fertilizer utilization. In the later stage of potato growth, there is enough fertilizer and water in the field, which is beneficial to cotton seedling emergence, and the double high yield of cotton and potato can be obtained. generally, the yield of potato is 2000-2500kg per mu, the yield of cotton is 80kg-100kg per mu, the output value per mu is 2500-3000 yuan, and the net income is 1500-2000 yuan. General border width of about 3 meters, cotton size row planting, large row spacing of 150 cm, small row

The cotton and potato interplanting model has a large application area in northern Jiangsu, the symbiotic period of the two crops is not long, the mutual influence during the symbiotic period is small, and there is a complementary effect in fertilizer utilization.

General border width of about 3 meters, cotton size row planting, large row spacing of 150 cm, small row spacing of 40 cm, a border of 4 rows of cotton. Potatoes are generally planted in cotton rows in the first ten days of February, with a row spacing of 75 cm and 2 rows of potatoes planted in large rows, with a plant spacing of 15 cm and 20 cm, with 3 500 to 4000 plants per mu, covered with plastic film to increase temperature and moisture and promote early yield increase. Cotton seedlings were raised and transplanted on both sides, with 1800 to 2000 plants per mu.

The improved potato varieties were selected, such as Kexin 1, Holland 15, etc., and the new hybrid cotton varieties with strong growth potential, strong individual yield formation ability and suitable for sparse planting were selected. such as Suza 3, Kemian 3, Nannong 6, Sikang 3 and so on.

The potato should be sowed in early February, harvested in time from early May to early June, and left the field in early June; cotton was sown around April 10 and transplanted in mid-May.

It is necessary to apply sufficient basic fertilizer for potatoes in scientific fertilization. before sowing, 2000-2500 kg of high-quality soil and miscellaneous fertilizer, 15 kg of urea and 10 kg of potassium chloride should be applied per mu of cotton, and the stems and leaves should be buried in time after harvest. Because the potato has enough nutrients in the field during the growth period, and its stems and leaves can be used as the base fertilizer in the field, the fertilization should be properly adjusted during the cotton growth period, generally not fertilized in the early stage, at the same time, the vigorous growth should be controlled, and the flower and boll fertilizer should be re-applied to ensure that fertilizer is needed in the boll setting period. if the growth is weak in the later stage, cover fertilizer should be applied.

Strengthen the management of potato seedlings in the first and middle of March, break the membrane and release the seedlings in time, and water more during the tuber expansion period, so as to keep the soil loose and suitable moisture. Since potato is the host of the second generation of blind stink bugs, special attention should be paid to the control of blind stink bugs in cotton fields after harvest.
