Chuandou No. 5 (soybean)

(1) Variety source: in 1988, the College of Agriculture of Sichuan Agricultural University used Xiangchun 10 as female parent and Ya'an white edamame bean line G272 as male parent for sexual hybridization. It was bred in 1994 by improved mixed selection method.

(2) characteristics: early-maturing spring soybean, spring sowing growth period 108 days, plant height 54.1 cm, plant branches 2.6, white flowers, gray hairs, limited fruiting habits, compact plant type, mature pods brown, seed oval shape, seed coat yellow, seed navel brown, 100-grain weight 21.3 grams, intact grain rate 92.4%, protein content 45.2%, fat content 19.7%. Strong adaptability, anti-viral disease, anti-lodging, good yield.

(3) yield performance: the average yield per mu in the provincial regional test in 1995-1996 was 152.5 kg, which was 25.5% higher than that of the control Gongdou 3; the average yield per mu in the production test in 1997 was 141.5 kg, 21.2% higher than that of the control Gongdou 3.

(4) cultivation points: it is suitable to sow 16000 plants per mu in spring sowing from late March to mid-April and 25000 plants per mu in autumn sowing before August 10.

(5) suitable planting area: suitable for planting in areas below 1500m above sea level, which can be used as field cantaloupe, net cropping or intercropping, and autumn soybeans and vegetable green edamame beans in areas with sufficient heat.
