Last Updated: 2024/11/05, Adrenocortical hyperfunction refers to the excessive secretion of one or more adrenocortical hormones. Because adrenocortical hyperfunction with excessive secretion of salt corticosteroids or sex hormones is rare, adrenocortical hyperfunction usually refers to excessive secretion of cortisol in glucocorticoids, also known as Cushing's syndrome or Cushing's disease. It is one of the most common endocrine diseases in dogs. The incidence of female dogs was more than that of male dogs, and it occurred more frequently in 3-9-year-old dogs. [etiology] the main causes are pituitary dependent factors such as pituitary tumors.

[etiology] the main causes are pituitary dependent factors such as pituitary tumors, ectopic corticotropin secretion factors such as lymphosarcoma and bronchial carcinoma, and adrenal dependent factors such as unilateral or bilateral adrenal adenocarcinoma or tumor.

[symptoms] polyuria, drooping abdomen, bilateral depilation. Hepatomegaly, excessive appetite, muscle weakness, drowsiness. Persistent defects or superficial convulsions. The relative or absolute number of lymphocytes in peripheral blood decreased (< = 1000 / mm3).

[treatment] the first choice was dichlorobenzene dichloroethane, 50mg/kg body weight, oral administration, once a week after effective. After taking medicine, some sick dogs show temporary loss of appetite, weakness, dizziness and other symptoms, administration or feeding can alleviate the adverse reactions of the drug. In addition, methylpyrone can be selected. Drugs such as aminophenyl piperidone should be resected for adrenocortical tumors diagnosed by X-ray examination.
