Last Updated: 2024/11/05, The life span of lily seeds is very short, it will lose its germination ability after half a year storage, and sowing seedlings need to be cultivated for many years to blossom. After sowing, lilies need to be cultivated for several years before commercial bulbs can be obtained. So generally use asexual reproduction to obtain the seed ball, and then plant the seed ball into the field to grow into commercial lilies. Bulbs are first cultivated into bulbs of 50 ~ 100 grams with various reproductive materials, and the number of years required varies according to the reproductive organs used. The following is a brief introduction to the methods of bulblet cultivation. The method of bulb cultivation is suitable for varieties that produce bulbs.

Bulbs are first cultivated into bulbs of 50 ~ 100 grams with various reproductive materials, and the number of years required varies according to the reproductive organs used. The following is a brief introduction to the methods of bulblet cultivation.

The method of bulb cultivation is suitable for varieties that produce bulbs, such as lilac varieties and so on. Mature bulbs are harvested in summer. From late September to early October, sowing ditches with a depth of 4 cm are opened according to row spacing of 12 cm ~ 15 cm. One bulb is sown every 4 cm ~ 6 cm, and about 3 cm is covered with soil after sowing. Cultivate soil and cover grass with plastic film before freezing to facilitate safe overwintering. When the seedlings emerged in the spring of the second year, the covered grass and film were removed, the weeds were ploughed and weeded, and the seedlings were fertilized and watered properly to promote the vigorous growth of the seedlings. After the aboveground part withered in autumn, the small bulbs were dug and sown according to the row spacing of 30 cm and the plant spacing of 9 cm ~ 12 cm, and the soil thickness was about 6 cm. According to the management method of the previous year, the bulbs of standard size can be harvested in autumn, and some of the bulbs that do not reach the standard can continue to be cultivated.

This method is only suitable for sand purple lilies with bulbs. In summer and autumn, the mature buds are collected and sown on demand, and bulbs can be formed in that year, germinated in the next spring, dug up and planted in autumn, and most of them can blossom after 3 years.
