Automatic insecticidal potato bred in Belarus
Belarusian scientists are the first in the world to develop potatoes that automatically kill pests. A scientist involved in the study said that after experiments, they have successfully transplanted a special gene into potatoes that continues to produce a toxin that is deadly to potato beetles (the toxin is harmless to humans). Therefore, when the potato beetle begins to destroy the stems and leaves of the potato, the toxin will soon seep into the worm and poison it to death.
