Gangyou 177 is more resistant to rice blast. Identified by the Institute of Plant Protection, Rice Institute of Sichuan Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Rice Institute of Sichuan Agricultural University, Gangyou 177 was classified as 2-6 leaf blast, 1-7 cervical blast, Shanyou 63 8-9 leaf blast and 9 cervical blast.

The whole growth period of Gangyou 177 is 150 days (average of 2 years in Sichuan regional trial from 1998 to 1999), which is one day longer than the control, plant height 112.6cm, effective panicle 2.3685 million / hm2, panicle length 24.8cm, average grain per panicle 159.6 grains, seed setting rate 86.3%, 1000-grain weight 27.7g. Gangyou 177 has the advantages of vigorous growth in the field, good leaf type, medium tillering ability, strong lodging resistance and good color conversion at maturity.

The combination participated in the variety comparison test of our institute in 1996, and the yield per unit area was 8.16t/hm2, which was 8.15% higher than that of Shanyou 63. A multi-site experiment was conducted in 1997, with an average per unit yield of 8.42t/hm2, 1.52% higher than that of the control Shanyou 63, 1.52% higher than that of the control Shanyou 63. From 1998 to 1999, we participated in the regional trial of the late ripening group of Zhongbai in Sichuan Province. The average unit yield of 8.28t/hm2 in 2 years was 4.24% higher than that of the control Shanyou 63. In 1999, the average yield per unit area of Sichuan province was 5.45% higher than that of the control.
