Gangyou 725 (Rice)

(1) Source of variety: This variety is a hybrid rice combination with medium and late maturity, which is crossed by sterile line Gang 46A and restoring line Mianhui 725 used by Jinyang Institute of Agricultural Sciences.

(2) Characteristics: The whole growth period of this variety is 149 days, and it matures at the same time as control Shanyou 63. The plant height was 114.7cm, panicle length was 24.8cm, effective panicle per mu was 158,600, grain set per panicle was 164.19, seed setting rate was 85.6%, 1000-grain weight was 27.0g, brown rice rate was 80.4%, head rice rate was 51.6%, rice quality was equal to control, leaf blast resistance was 5-8, neck blast resistance was 5-7, disease resistance was slightly stronger than Shanyou 63.

(3) Yield performance: In 1996-1997, the average yield per mu was 568.93 kg in provincial trial, which was 3.08% higher than that of control. In production trial, the average yield per mu was 594.5 kg, which was 8.55% higher than that of control.

(4) Timely sowing, cultivation of multi-tiller strong seedlings, seedling age 45-50 days, planting 15,000 nests per mu, basic seedlings 110,000 - 130,000 per mu, planting double seedlings per nest, applying pure nitrogen 10- 12kg per mu, heavy bottom early chasing, paying attention to the coordinated application of fluorine, phosphorus and potassium.

(5) Suitable planting area: suitable for planting Shanyou 63.
