Pruning of aging tea trees
1. Heavy pruning: heavy pruning is applicable to semi-aging and premature senescence of tea trees, the age of which is not necessarily very long, most of the main branches still have a certain ability to live, and this tea tree can be re-pruned and rejuvenated, usually by cutting off 1/3~1/2 of the crown.
2. Taiwan cutting: For very senescent tea trees, it is difficult to increase yield even if fertilizer is added. This kind of tea tree should be updated by cutting, that is, sawing (or cutting) all branches about 15 cm above the ground before and after the cold, and re-cultivating the canopy. The tea tree that implements platform cutting or heavy pruning should be carried out on the basis of deep ploughing and applying sufficient base fertilizer.
