Last Updated: 2024/11/05, Pigs are prone to heatstroke in hot summer. In fact, heatstroke is the general name of solar radiation disease and heat radiation disease, and Chinese veterinarians call it black sweat wind. The causes of solar radiation disease and heat radiation disease are different, but their pathological processes can not be completely separated. Solar radiation disease is due to pigs exposed to direct sunlight for too long, resulting in an increase in physiological body temperature, skin overheating, warming, resulting in skin vascular dilatation. On the other hand, the overheating of the head leads to cerebral and meningeal congestion, which finally leads to the disorder of cortical regulatory function and life center of pigs.

Heat radiation disease is due to high external temperature or increased environmental humidity, making it difficult for the body to dissipate heat, skin vascular congestion, capillary network circulation failure, and the occurrence of cardiac insufficiency, brain passive hyperemia, pulmonary edema, myocardial, liver, kidney substantial malnutrition, body temperature continues to rise, and finally die. In particular, pigs with thick coat, obesity, cardiopulmonary insufficiency and poor thermal adaptability are more likely to induce the disease.

Clinical symptoms of the disease generally show a sudden onset, severe illness, serious symptoms. Extremely difficult to breathe, conjunctival flushing or cyanosis, unstable walking or lying across, sweating, mental uneasiness, foaming at the mouth, rapid heartbeat, irregular rhythm, dilated pupils, decreased vision, body temperature as high as 41-43 degrees Celsius, and finally unconscious, less sweat and sticky, spasm, most pigs only died of collapse or heart failure.

The main points of diagnosis can be diagnosed according to medical history, external environment and clinical symptoms. However, because the disease is very similar to porcine encephalitis, acute poisoning and other symptoms, it must be carefully and repeatedly compared before it can be diagnosed.

Treatment: after the onset of the disease, pigs should be transferred to a cool place immediately, spray large amounts of cold water on the head and body, or enema with cold water. The ground where sick animals lie can also be splashed with water to lower the temperature and reduce restlessness and other symptoms.

1. Reduce internal heat and enhance heart function. Conditional farms can feed or allow sick pigs to eat watermelon pulp and juice, or take ten drops internally, and then subcutaneously inject 10% sodium camphor sulfonate or Annaka injection 20 ml.

two。 Implement bloodletting and acupuncture therapy. Can first put venous blood about 300ml, and then acupuncture the sun, Yutang, ear tip, tail tip, four hooves and other acupoints, and then intravenous injection of normal saline 1000 ml.

3. Traditional Chinese medicine therapy: to calm the mind, heat-clearing and detoxification. Medicinal use: 60 grams of honeysuckle, 60 grams of forsythia, 150 grams of raw gypsum, 60 grams of Anemarrhena anemarrhena, 60 grams of Gardenia jasminoides, 30 grams of licorice. You can also use 30 grams of Elsholtzia splendens, 24 grams of forsythia, 24 grams of talc, 30 grams of raw place, 30 grams of Radix scrophulariae, 24 grams of Radix Ophiopogonis, 24 grams of Scutellaria, pollen, chrysanthemum and mint, 18 grams of Platycodon grandiflorum, 30 grams of Poria God, and 9 grams of cinnabar (in addition, wrapped for backup). In addition to cinnabar, other drugs are ground to the end, and after rinsing with boiling water, warm irrigation or water frying juice is waiting for warm irrigation.

Preventive measures: do not exercise in the hot sun for too long and drink more cold water; sunshade nets or awnings should be set up in enclosures and sports grounds to avoid direct sunlight; good ventilation should be provided in the enclosures to avoid high humidity and high heat environment; when using cars and boats to transport pigs, be careful not to oversqueeze and drink water.
