Tea clone breeding
The breeding method of combining single plant breeding with asexual reproduction to produce new varieties was adopted. Tea varieties bred by clones are called tea clone varieties or tea clone varieties. It can reflect the heredity of the mother tree, can maintain the excellent characters of the improved tea varieties, the propagation speed is fast, the propagation cycle is short, and it can be propagated by cutting seedlings at the seedling stage, and the propagation coefficient is high. Since the successful popularization of tea short-spike cuttings, tea clone breeding is the breeding method of "single plant selection-cutting propagation". The breeding methods are as follows:
First, collect raw materials.
Second, select excellent individual plants: according to the breeding objectives, select excellent individual plants from the original materials, mark them, and observe them. The main contents of observation are germination sooner or later, growth appearance, germination density, bud and leaf characters, high yield, adaptability, stress resistance and so on.
Third, preliminary propagation and seedling selection: after preliminary observation, the excellent individual plants with outstanding performance are divided into individual plants for cutting propagation, and the method of raising seedlings is adopted to increase the number of seedlings in order to arrange the preliminary test nursery or comparative experiment. The survival rate, seedling rate, seedling height, stem diameter, branch number, leaf number, stress resistance, root development and so on were investigated and observed in the stage of cutting seedling raising.
4. Preliminary comparative test: preliminary comparative test can be arranged for those who have selected individual plants and have propagated a small amount of seedlings by cutting. Local fine varieties or popularized varieties should be used as controls for comparison. The main observation items are germination sooner or later, bud and leaf characters, yield, adaptability, stress resistance and so on.
Comparative experiment: individual plant observation and seedling selection are excellent, there are a certain number of cutting seedlings or lines with outstanding performance by preliminary comparative test, and the local improved varieties or popularized varieties of the same seedling age are used as control, and the variety comparison test is arranged. More than three duplicates are required, each with an area of more than 0.02 mu. The identification contents include: growth characteristics, stress resistance, high yield, adaptability, reproductive characteristics and so on.
Regional test: the excellent strains selected through variety comparison test or preliminary comparison test were selected to carry out regional test in the breeding service area according to the requirements of regional test, in order to determine the ecological suitable area and extension area of fine variety.
Approval and promotion: new tea varieties that have been tested in the region shall be submitted to the provincial or national tea variety approval committee for examination and approval, and those who have passed the examination and approval shall breed and popularize according to their suitable areas.
