Baiyu, a New Lily Variety
In December 2006, Guangdong Province Crop Variety Approval Committee approved the new cut lily variety Baiyu Musk Lily bred by Professor Zhou Hougao of Zhongkai Agricultural Technology College.
Baiyu was bred from the cross between Baisenlin and Leishan in 2003 and backcrossed with Baisenlin. A variety comparison test was carried out in Lianping, Dongguan and Conghua, Guangdong Province from 2004 to 2006. The variety overcame the shortcomings of its parents and current main varieties in agronomic and biological characteristics, and its characters were improved. Its characteristics are: vigorous growth of plants, height of 110~130cm, stem diameter of 0.8~ 0.9 cm. The flowering rate is high and the flowering period is uniform. Seed bulb size had little effect on florescence, seed bulb reproduction performance was good, and multi-generation reproduction characters were stable. Qualified commercial bulbs can be cultivated in one growing season by using scale cuttings, and the quality of cut flowers produced by using self-breeding bulbs is high. The flower bud differentiation is less dependent on long day, the habit of long day of its parent 'Leishan' is improved, the growth period is greatly shortened in short day season, and the cultivation cycle can be completed in 70~110 days. Natural flowering in mid-May, is a mid-mature varieties; cutting seedlings can directly produce cut flowers. Cuttage seedlings grow vigorously, planting in winter, spring and summer can directly produce excellent cut flowers, reduce the link of seed bulb breeding, reduce the cost; cut flower quality is excellent. Cut flower branches symmetrical, leaves arranged sparsely, culm color, leaf color dark green. Beautiful flower shape and posture. Perianth arrangement is close, full flower when reverse roll, ornamental character is good.

Lily land selection and preparation
It is advisable to select sandy loam with good drainage and deep soil layer. In hilly areas, it is advisable to select gentle slope land with slope below 5 degrees. Avoid doing things on the edge. Lily continuous cropping diseases and insect pests serious, yield reduced. After land selection, soil chemical treatment is carried out in combination with soil ploughing to mitigate pests and diseases. killing underground pests with 2.5-5 kg of methylhexachlorone or 2-2.5 kg of carbofuran per mu. Spray soil with 50% carbendazim WP 1kg mixed with 500kg water per mu for sterilization. Deep ploughing, local conditions, apply sufficient base fertilizer. hundred

"six views" in summer management of Lily
1. Look at the seedlings and fertilize. After sowing, lily seedlings began to emerge when the local temperature reached 14-16 ℃. Due to the long emergence time and high nutrient consumption of lilies, seedling fertilizer should be re-applied. Sprinkle with 1000 kg of fully mature human and animal dung or 20 kg of urea every 667m2. In the first ten days of June, when the lily entered the early flowering stage, the underground bulb growth accelerated, which was the key period for the formation of lily yield. 15 kg of urea is applied every 667 square meters. Lily has phosphates
