Because of the shallow root system and few whisker roots, it is easy to appear stolon tender tip and withered head in the dry climate in summer. Bermudagrass is resistant to trampling and likes fertile soil with good drainage. It also grows fast on light saline-alkali land and has strong invasiveness, so it often invades other lawns under good conditions. In Urumqi, autumn withered and yellowed earlier, and the green period was about 170 days.

Bermudagrass is a perennial herb of Gramineae, with rhizome and stolon, linear leaves and small. Like warm and humid climate, like light. With well-developed rhizomes and stolons, strong invasiveness, easy to invade other grass species to spread and expand, and excellent resistance to tread; cold resistance and drought tolerance are in the forefront of warm-season grasses; prefer acidic soil, but can also grow on trace saline-alkali beaches, the optimum pH value is 6.0 to 7.0. It turns green when the night temperature is higher than 15 degrees Celsius in spring, and begins to dormancy and turn yellow when the night temperature is lower than 10 ℃ in autumn.

Establishment and management

Bermudagrass can be used for general greening, sports lawn, highway slope protection and various soil and water conservation projects, and many improved varieties can be used for high-grade lawns such as golf greens. Direct sowing or laying nutrients can be used to build the terrace. When propagating with seeds, the sowing amount of shelled seeds is 1015g / m2, and that of unshelled seeds is 1520g / m2. Generally sowing from May to August, the sowing depth is 0.6-1.2 cm. The time of emergence is 10-20 days.

If the pruning stubble is too high, it will lead to the formation of a large number of grass cushion layer, so in order to maintain high-grade Bermudagrass lawn, frequent pruning, regular watering and adequate fertilizer are needed; the general pruning stubble height is 1.5-2.5 cm. For some improved varieties, the stubble can reach 0.8-1.2 cm. Bermudagrass has good resistance to brown spot and rust, and its absolute cold resistance is poor, and its growth is affected when the soil temperature is lower than 10 ℃.
