A new dual-purpose garlic variety "Fenglian No.1"

"Fengsuan No. 1" garlic is characterized by early maturity, vigorous growth, cold tolerance, disease resistance, early bolting, fat garlic head, high yield and good quality. It is an ideal garlic variety for planting both bolting and garlic in autumn in Huanghuai River Basin. The plant height is 60~70 cm, the pseudostem height is about 25 cm, and the pseudostem is 1.5~2 cm thick; each plant has 80~100 fibrous roots, 20~48 cm long, 0.07~0.18 cm thick, and about 2/3 of the fibrous roots are branched; the whole growth period has 12~14 leaves, and 6~7 leaves in winter. Garlic bolt 60~ 80cm long, red bud, tail 20~ 30cm long, 0.42~ 0.63cm thick, single bolt weight 23~ 30g, easy to bolt, crisp and tender taste good. The garlic bulb has purple stripe color on its outer skin, its transverse diameter is 5.3~7.2 cm, and the garlic bulb whose transverse diameter is more than 5 cm accounts for more than 85%. The dry weight of each bulb is 50~80.2 g, and the maximum weight is more than 360 g, with 8~10 petals per bulb. The whole growth period is about 215 days. Generally, the suitable sowing time in Xuhuai area is 20~30 days in September.
