Origin of variety: 506 individual plants of farm varieties were selected by Guangxi Guilin Tea Institute from tea fields of Lingui County, Wantian Township, Longji Village of Longsheng County and tea gardens of Guangxi in 1976. 328 plants were selected from them. Guihong 3 was selected from black tea strains by identification.
Characteristics: It belongs to small arbor type big leaf class, tree width 2.2 meters, natural tree height 3 meters, tree posture semi-open, branch density medium, internode length 3.4 cm, leaf semi-oblique, leaf long oval, leaf body folded inward, leaf width medium, average leaf length 2.7 cm, lateral veins 8-12 pairs, one bud three leaves long 16.0 cm, tender shoot green, late germination period, medium yield, excellent quality, suitable for red and green tea. Weak cold resistance, moderate disease resistance, susceptible to mites harm.
Cultivation points: it is advisable to adopt double-plant strip planting mode, the first fixed shear height is about 15 cm, and the crown is cultivated by branch shear or bending technique.
