After garlic harvest, there is a physiological dormancy period of more than two months. In order to sow ahead of time to make green garlic, garlic yellow and garlic bolts listed earlier, the dormancy period of garlic can be broken by the following three methods.

1. Low temperature external method: from late July to early August, garlic seeds were packed in plastic woven bags and soaked in cold water for 3-5 ℃. After sowing for 15-20 days, seedlings could emerge 3-7 days after sowing.

Second, tide garlic awakening method: 15-20 days before sowing, soak the garlic seeds in cold water for 5 minutes, remove and drain and spread them on the cool and moist ground, 7 cm thick, turn once every 3-5 days, keep 11-16 ℃, and the relative humidity is 83%. After 15-20 days, the roots turn white, and then the seeds can be sown.

Third, peeling and cutting method: before sowing, peel off the thin skin wrapped on the garlic cloves, or remove a part of the tip of the garlic cloves (about 1/4 of the garlic cloves), which can break dormancy and promote germination.
