In November 2003, in a farm in Xinyang City, feeding moldy corn caused more than 300 pigs to get sick one after another and two pigs died. Among them, there are more than 180 weaned piglets, 140 nursing pigs and 36 reserve sows. It was treated with sulfadiazine at first and then with oxytetracycline. After being diagnosed with gibberellin poisoning, the diagnosis and treatment are reported as follows:

1 clinical symptoms

The main manifestations of diseased pigs are loss of appetite or abstinence, normal or slightly elevated body temperature, widespread flushing of some pig skin and diarrhea in a few pigs. The symptoms of the sow are typical, mammary gland hyperplasia, vaginal swelling, flushing, obvious prominence, severe labia opening, vaginal mucosal swelling, discharge of secretions mixed with blood. But none of the sows showed estrus. Ovariectomized boar prepuce edema, breast hypertrophy, there are two rectal prolapse, intestinal mucosa serious edema, bleeding. There are no obvious symptoms in parturient sows, pregnant sows and breeding boars, which may be related to the short feeding time of moldy feed and the strong resistance of pigs.

2 pathological changes

Postmortem examination of two dead sows showed that the vaginal mucosa was congested and swollen, with mucinous exudate, cervical wall and myometrium edema, and ovarian hypoplasia. Other lesions were not visible to the naked eye.

3Diagnostic

3.1 sensory examination showed that the corn smelled moldy and some of the seeds turned brown.

3.2 Corn samples were soaked in 95% alcohol for two minutes and inoculated in Cha's plate medium and potato glucose plasma fat. In the mold incubator, the mycelium grew luxuriantly on both media after 25 ℃ incubation for 48-72 hours. The culture smears were selected and stained with lactic acid carbonic acid blue, and obvious hyphae and spores were observed. The hyphae are septate, the macroconidia are nearly sickle-shaped, the tip is gradually thinned, there are 3-6 septum, the small conidia are oval and spindle-shaped, a few have 1-3 septum, and the number of microconidia is more than that of macroconidia.

In animal experiment, the ventral shearing of healthy rabbits was about 6cm in diameter. Without damaging the skin, the concentrated solution was dipped in pure culture ether with cotton ball and applied several times at the shearing place. On the 5th day, the skin showed thickening, redness and swelling, and gradually necrosed and scabbed two days later.

Based on the above results, it was diagnosed as porcine gibberellin poisoning.

4treatment. First of all, stop feeding moldy corn, switch to high-quality corn, let pigs freely drink sugar saline, and at the same time increase the turquoise succulent feed. Seriously sick pigs were given 10% glucose injection 200~500ml, vitamin C10 ~ 20ml, vitamin B1, 5~10ml, a mixed intravenous injection, once a day for 5 days. With the above measures, the disease was controlled in 10 days and cured after two weeks.

5 discussion

In general, gibberellin poisoning mainly occurs in equine animals, and pigs can also be poisoned. Zearalenone in the toxin, as an estrogenic substance, can lead to functional and morphological changes of pig reproductive organs. To prevent the occurrence of the disease, mainly to prevent feed mildew, timely detoxification of moldy feed.
