Mr. Chen complained: due to the cold weather, the whole circle of pigs generally had a serious cough, so they went to the local veterinary drugstore on the afternoon of September 16 to buy medicine for treatment. Without consulting the drugstore veterinarian, we took it for granted that we bought five kinds of injections: potent lincomycin, procaine penicillin, aminophylline, analgin and kanamycin. Back to the pig.

Morbidity

On September 17, 2008, Mr. Yang, a farmer in Baiyun District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, had 25 25 kg ~ 30 kg growing pigs suffering from drug poisoning. After returning to the pig farm, these injections were directly mixed with 20 milliliters of each pig, and not long after the injection, all the pigs vomited. On the morning of September 17, three pigs died and several were dying.

Clinical symptoms

On the morning of September 17, the author went to the pig farm with the anxious Mr. Yang, and found that the pigs were depressed, severely vomiting, vomiting was green, the pupils of the eyes were narrowed, anorexia, vomiting immediately after picking a small amount of feed or drinking water, some lost their appetite, some had diarrhea, dyspnea, muscle spasms, unstable standing, swaying walking, stiff limbs, slow response, and some died in a coma.

Pathological changes

After dissecting a dead pig, it can be seen that the heart muscle is soft, the liver surface is yellow, and the stomach contains green content. due to not eating for more than ten hours, the intestine becomes thinner and full of gas.

Treatment and outcome

Give each pig intravenous injection of 50 ml of 10% glucose injection every 1 hour to protect the liver of poisoned pigs and accelerate detoxification. Pigs with muscle spasm are injected with 0.1% epinephrine hydrochloride. Pigs with vomiting are injected with 3 ml of 1% atropine sulfate, in addition, nursing inspections are strengthened to promote the recovery of health and keep the pigsty quiet and clean. Use 5% glucose water and Victoria 500ml mixed with 1000 liters of water for free drinking for pigs, and feed a small amount of green succulent feed and a small amount of rice to pigs with slight appetite. After the adoption of the above measures, the mental state of the pigs improved on the afternoon of the 17th, the appetite also recovered, and fewer pigs vomited and cramped, and the pigs basically returned to normal after two days.

Summary

The mixture of some drugs can cause discoloration, turbidity, precipitation and crystallization precipitation due to physical and chemical action, reduce the curative effect or poison the animals, produce incompatibility taboos, adversely affect the sick animals and directly lead to economic losses. In this accident, Mr. Yang did not know that several of the drugs were incompatible: aminophylline was not compatible with lincomycin and procaine penicillin, lincomycin and penicillin were also incompatible, and Mr. Yang saw turbidity with these drugs. I thought it was all right and still injected directly. After the turbid liquid like poison enters the pig, it damages the tissue and physiological function of the body through absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion, resulting in drug poisoning in pigs, and measures are not taken in time, resulting in unnecessary losses.

It is the third part of the poison, and the improper use of the drug will become a poison. therefore, in the use of drugs, they should be scientifically and reasonably compatible, and immediate measures should be taken to reduce losses in case of drug poisoning.
