Lily's Sand Storage Method
The mining period of lilies is in the middle of August, when the temperature is high, the fresh lilies harvested have high moisture content, exuberant breathing, and are easy to mildew if they are not kept well. This paper introduces a method of storing lilies in sand, which can make the storage period of lilies up to 6 months.
First, the treatment of lilies before storage should remove the soil, stems and fibrous roots in time after harvest, select white, large, fresh, disease-free lilies, and then store them in different stages. Freshly harvested lilies should be placed in a shaded place to avoid sun exposure to prevent discoloration and dehydration of the outer scales.
Second, storage method (1) build a storage pool (pit) with brick in the basement, the size of the pool (pit) should be determined according to the number of lilies stored. (2) evenly spread a layer of fine sand 6-8 cm thick on the bottom of the pond (pit), place lilies on the sand, then cover them with a layer of sand 3-4 cm thick, and then discharge a layer of lilies on the sand layer, stacking them repeatedly at a height of 1 meter. The sandy soil covered with lilies should be a little dry, so as not to cause lilies to take root and mildew due to excessive humidity. (3) cover with soil (sand, straw) around and at the top of the lily, with a thickness of 20cm to 30cm, not too thin, otherwise it is easy to dehydrate the lily. (4) the suitable storage temperature in the pile is 6 ℃ ~ 10 ℃. It should be checked frequently during storage to prevent lily from getting feverish and mildew. In case of fever, it should be re-stored according to the above-mentioned method.
