Last Updated: 2024/11/06, Chicken pullorum disease is an acute infectious disease caused by Salmonella pullorum. Chicks are characterized by white paste sparse feces, which often cause a large number of deaths if not treated in time. In recent years, we tried garlic to prevent and cure pullorum disease in chicks. A total of 83600 chicks were prevented, with an effective protection rate of more than 96%. 6227 diseased chicks were treated and 5918 were cured, with a cure rate of 95%. 1. Treatment method 1. Choose locally produced purple garlic, peel off the skin, mash and mix it, and feed it with 05Mel 1g for each sick chick.

Chicken pullorum disease is an acute infectious disease caused by Salmonella pullorum. A total of 83600 chicks were prevented, with an effective protection rate of more than 96%. 6227 diseased chicks were treated and 5918 were cured, with a cure rate of 95%.

I. treatment methods

1. Choose the purple garlic produced locally, peel off the peel and mash the mixture and feed it. Each sick chick is fed with 0.5ml 1g, three times a day.

2. Make 20% garlic juice, each sick chicken should be given 0.5 ml of garlic drip, 3 times a day.

II. Introduction of typical cases

In March last year, 1600 Roman brown chicks raised by Li in this county began to find sick chickens at the age of 8 days. 96 sick chicks and 19 died within 3 days. The sick chicks showed low spirits, shrank their heads and closed their eyes, did not eat, crowded together, and pulled white paste dilute dung. The diseased chicks were examined and found that the intestines were full of mucus, hepatosplenomegaly, hyperemia and bleeding spots, which were preliminarily diagnosed as pullorum disease. That is, poultry owners are required to raise sick and healthy chicks separately, strengthen management, appropriately increase the temperature of the nursery room, mix 20% garlic juice with warm water, take 1 ml of medicine for each sick chicken, and feed healthy chicks with mashed garlic three times a day. After 3 days of treatment, except for 3 sick chicks, most of the diseased chicks improved and had an appetite, and they were treated with garlic paste for two days. the sick chicks recovered, and the healthy chicks were fed with garlic paste to prevent the disease.

Third, prevention and control experience

The main results are as follows: 1. Chicken pullorum disease mainly occurs in two-week-old chicks, mostly through digestive tract and respiratory tract infection, and adult chicken carriers can be transmitted vertically through eggs, so the key to prevent the disease is to do a good job in feeding management and disinfection of breeding eggs before hatching.

2. The treatment test shows that garlic has a good therapeutic effect on pullorum disease in chicks. The early cases can be cured in 3 days, and in the middle and later stages, due to the aggravation of the disease and secondary infection, they should be treated with effective antibiotics. Therefore, in clinical practice, it is necessary to achieve early detection and early treatment in order to achieve ideal results.

3. At the initial stage of treatment, the sick chicks have no appetite, first take it with garlic juice, and then feed it with garlic paste after restoring appetite. During the treatment period, feeding management should be strengthened and adequate clean drinking water should be given.

4. The method of feeding garlic paste during the breeding period can effectively prevent the occurrence of this disease. Through the observation of prevention experiments on several large chicken farms in this county, it is proved that garlic is effective in preventing pullorum disease in chicks. For example, parents' breeding farms in Pingyuan County have raised chicks in 7 batches since 1996, a total of 56000 chicks, due to the use of garlic prevention, and strengthen feeding management, effectively control the occurrence of pullorum disease in chicks, and the survival rate of brooding is more than 96%.

5. According to Chinese animal medicine, garlic has the effect of eliminating food, detoxification, stopping dysentery and stopping dysentery by entering the spleen and stomach meridian. Modern medical research shows that garlic contains allicin, which can inhibit and kill a variety of intestinal bacteria. Garlic is cheap and easy to take, easy to treat, and people are willing to accept it, so it can be widely used to prevent and cure chicken pullorum disease and other intestinal diseases.
