Second, leaves: the leaves of Acer truncatum and Liquidambar formosana are 5 to 7-lobed palm-shaped leaves, each acuminate, sharp teeth, green and smooth leaves. The former has tufted hairs on the vein axils below the leaves, and the leaves turn red, orange or yellow in autumn, opposite; the latter is glabrous under the leaves, turning orange to red or purple in autumn, and the leaves are alternate.

Third, bark: the bark of Acer frutescens is smooth, and the bark of rubber maple trees has deep cracks and narrow ridges.

Fourth, flowers: Acer mongolica flowers are small, reddish purple, corymbose inflorescences erect or drooping, with young leaves in spring. The rubber maple tree is monoecious, with tiny, yellowish green, apetalous flowers and leaves in late spring.

Fifth, fruit: Acer mongolica fruit with green to red wings, up to 1 cm long. The fruit of Liquidambar formosana is a single small fruit, brown, with a pendulous round inflorescence, 4 cm in diameter.

6. Living environment: Acer frutescens live in bushes, and maple trees live in damp forests. The origin of Acer maple is China, Japan and South Korea. The origin of the rubber maple tree is Mexico, Central America and the eastern United States.
