Urine samples of Hangzhou live pigs were tested before slaughter.

In order to let the general public eat "reassuring meat", Hangzhou began to test the urine samples of live pigs to be slaughtered before slaughtering in six designated slaughterhouses in the city from September 20, that is, animal quarantine personnel carried out urine samples on every batch of live pigs ready to be slaughtered.

In order to let the general public eat "rest assured meat", Hangzhou began to test the urine samples of live pigs to be slaughtered before slaughtering in six designated slaughterhouses in the city from September 20, that is, animal quarantine personnel carried out urine samples sampling on each batch of pigs to be slaughtered and tested by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay; four or five hours later, the animal quarantine department informed the slaughterhouse that pigs that had positive urine samples should not be slaughtered online in batches. At the same time, spot checks, audits and registrations were conducted on 48 feed and veterinary drug manufacturers in the city, and a total of 69.5 kilograms of "clenbuterol" additives were seized.

According to data provided by the Hangzhou Bureau of Agriculture, from September 20 to October 31, a total of 2782 pig urine samples were tested in Hangzhou, of which 65 were positive. Dozens of batches and a total of 3389 pigs were pulled off the slaughtering line because of positive urine tests. According to the analysis of the source of positive pigs, Hangzhou local live pigs accounted for 45.9%, while imported pigs accounted for 54.1%.
