Etiology:

1. Biological factors: trauma caused Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and other pathogenic microorganism infection in female rabbits.

2 traumatic factors: ① cage, sharp objects in the cage stabbed or hit the breast of female rabbits, breast injury, infection of staphylococci, Escherichia coli and so on, resulting in inflammation. ② due to poor nutrition (incomplete nutrition, insufficient feeding), too little milk production, lack of milk, young rabbits hungry, sucking, nipple bite.

3. Feeding management factors: too much ① concentrate and succulent feed, too much milk in female rabbits, thick milk blocking the breast duct or causing milk to accumulate in the breast for a long time, resulting in mastitis. ② young rabbits did not reach the mating age and body weight for the first time. After early mating, the poor health of young rabbits was caused by lack of milk. ③ female rabbits suffer from mental stimulation during lactation, resulting in functional disorder and mastitis.

Prevention:

1. The female rabbits were stopped feeding high protein feed 3-5 days before parturition, and 2-4 days after delivery, they were fed more green feed and less concentrate. Adjust the proportion of concentrate and green feed of female rabbits to prevent excessive and concentrated milk.

two。 Keep the rabbit house, rabbit cage and rabbit delivery box hygienic, and often repair the cages to prevent the mother rabbit's breasts from being injured by cages, resulting in breast infection.

3. The female rabbits were given sulfamethoxazole tablets continuously within 3 days after delivery, half a tablet each time, twice a day.

4. If the female rabbit breast has mild inflammation, it should be given antibiotics immediately for 3 days, or the female rabbit breast should be washed with magnesium sulfate solution, and then smeared with iodine tincture for 3 consecutive days.
