Successful Research on Timber-free cultivation of Gastrodia elata in Guizhou
The fragile ecological environment in the west is in urgent need of protection, but the poor people in the west are in urgent need of logging and planting Gastrodia elata to get rich, so environmental protection and well-off society have become a pair of inextricable contradictions. Nowadays, with the maturity and promotion of the cultivation technology of Gastrodia elata in Yunlong Gastrodia Development Co., Ltd., Dafang County, Guizhou Province, this contradiction is easily solved. Dafang County is located in the northwest of Guizhou Province. Due to the unique geographical environment and climatic conditions, the generous Gastrodia elata has a large size, transparent texture, gastrodin content and beneficial trace elements such as molybdenum, chromium, rubidium, cobalt and copper, which are far higher than those in other areas. The product is outstanding at home and abroad, known as "China Gastrodia elata in Guizhou, Guizhou Tianma generous". Yunlong Company is a private science and technology enterprise integrating Gastrodia elata research, breeding, planting, deep processing and packaging. In 1998, the company undertook the regional spark science and technology project: Gastrodia elata non-timber cultivation technology research. Through nearly a hundred repeated experiments, Yunlong Company finally used generous wild Gastrodia elata as the provenance, successfully developed the technology of sexual reproduction of Gastrodia elata which is suitable for the local climate characteristics, and according to the biological characteristics of Armillaria mellea, after scientific treatment of rural corn stamens, grain husks and other wastes instead of wood planting, not only reduce the planting cost, simplify the process, improve the quality and increase the yield. But also fundamentally solved the contradiction between Gastrodia elata cultivation and ecological protection. In June 2002, Chen Yiyu, vice president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, led an expert group after a generous inspection that Yunlong's sexual reproduction technology of Gastrodia elata filled the gap in the cultivation of Gastrodia elata in Guizhou. There is no doubt that non-timber cultivation is a revolution in the history of Gastrodia elata cultivation. Guo Xiangwen, general manager of Yunlong Company, said that Gastrodia elata is a rootless and leafless plant, which does not need to absorb nutrients from the soil and carry out photosynthesis. Its nutrient source comes from Armillaria mellea, and the main nutrition of Armillaria mellea comes from wood. Therefore, wood must be used to grow Gastrodia elata in the past. Since the 1970s, many experts and scholars have done a lot of exploration and research on the selection, breeding, standardized planting, processing, storage and transportation of wild Gastrodia elata, resulting in the continuous improvement of the quality and the continuous increase of output. Thousands of farmers have been able to get rid of poverty and become rich by planting Gastrodia elata, but the problem of consuming a lot of wood in planting Gastrodia elata has not been solved. What experts and drug farmers have done is the choice of wood texture, the ratio of quantity, the distribution of size and diameter, the depth of fish scale mouth and the selection of soaking solution, but failed to find a substitute for wood. It is estimated that planting one mu of Gastrodia elata requires 20,000 kilograms of 5 cm thick hardwood, which is equivalent to cutting down 7 to 8 mu of mountain forest. Yunlong Company planted 400 mu of Gastrodia elata with non-timber cultivation technology in 2002. in the past, 2800 to 3200 mu of lush trees would have disappeared. Dafang County plans to develop Tianlin to plant 20, 000 mu in the next five years, which in the past means that 140000 to 160000 mu of wood will be cut down by axe. However, from now on, the traditional planting method of "digging meat and tonifying sores" of Gastrodia elata at the expense of the ecological environment will never return with the birth and promotion of non-timber cultivation technology.

When is the best time to pick the capsule of Gastrodia elata
After pollination of Gastrodia elata flowers, the ovary gradually enlarged, and the capsule was light brown or pink, showing a long oval shape, with 6 vertical edges. There are 10,000 to 50,000 seeds in each capsule, up to 80,000 seeds at most. The seeds are small. In the form of powder, it is difficult to recognize its size and shape with the naked eye. Under the microscope, the mature seeds are fusiform, 0.6 mm in length and 0.14 mm in width. The embryo is 170 to 180 microns long. The seed coat is white and translucent, like a wing, consisting of parenchyma cells, without endosperm, and the embryo is light brown or black brown.

What are the advantages of planting Gastrodia elata in wide-mouth bottle
After years of experiments, Comrade Wang Lianqi of Xishan strain Factory in Chuxiong County, Yunnan Province, thinks that using wide-mouth bottle to cultivate Gastrodia elata in indoor bed frame has the advantages of high yield, labor-saving, wood-saving and so on. Bottle planting Gastrodia elata, put the bottle on the bedstead, do not need special management, do not need watering, just need to control a certain indoor temperature. It not only uses the space area effectively, but also is easy to operate. According to the experiment, the average number of large and small Gastrodia elata tubers is 38.6 per bottle, the weight of fresh flax is 97.9 grams, and the largest single weight is 46.
