[etiology]

Canine keratitis is usually caused by trauma or foreign body. it can also occur in some infectious and parasitic diseases.

[main points of diagnosis]

The main symptoms of acute keratitis are shyness, tears, pain, eyelid atresia, conjunctival flushing. Trauma caused by rough corneal surface, corneal opacity, some mild; only a translucent pannus, some thicker, showing an opaque white membrane, resulting in blindness in sick dogs. Cases with a long course of disease cause peripheral corneal congestion and neovascularization. Corneal perforation can be caused in severe cases.

According to the etiology and clinical symptoms, it can be diagnosed basically.

[treatment]

(1) Control or prevention of corneal infection: after cleaning the diseased eyes, apply low concentration antibiotic eye drops, such as 0.5% streptomycin, 0.25% chloramphenicol, 0.5% tetracycline, 0.5% neomycin, etc., 4 times a day, 1 drop at a time. Serious eye drops can be used with high concentrations, such as 40,000 units / ml of penicillin, 5% streptomycin, 40,000 units / ml of polymyxin, once every half hour. Or apply antibiotic ointment.

(2) promote corneal pannus absorption: 1: 2% Dionine or 1% white or yellow mercury-lowering eye ointment, or sprinkled calomel powder.
