Raw fish in hot springs? That's right. Recently, a reporter from Southern Rural Daily visited Triangle Town in Zhongshan City and learned that in order to produce early seedlings at the end of the first month of the lunar calendar, a raw fish seedling farm did not hesitate to spend money on breeding parent fish with hot spring water to meet customer requirements and seize the market opportunity. The purpose of this is to promote the gonads of parent fish to mature under natural conditions for seedling production.

Liang Guihong, Yurong Aquatic breeding Farm in Triangle Town, Zhongshan City, told reporters that on January 10, 2009, he had loaded 10000 jin of 1-year-old female raw fish into a truck and transported them to Hunan hot springs and waited on them with good food and drink. Let raw fish enjoy this "five-star aristocratic treatment", his purpose is only one: to produce early seedlings.

However, it is not easy to raise early seedlings. It is understood that the breeding season of raw fish is in spring, and only in the water of 23 ℃ ~ 26 ℃ can they mature and lay eggs. The conventional method of Guangdong raw fish fry farm is to build a greenhouse to increase the water temperature and promote the gonadal development of parent fish. However, due to the cold wave in winter and early spring in Guangdong in recent years, the low temperature lasts for a long time. Even if the greenhouse is built, the water temperature in the greenhouse can not meet the spawning requirements because of the low surface temperature. Therefore, through greenhouse culture, the number of parent fish maturing ahead of time is small, and the yield of early seedlings is not high.

Liang Guihong said that in the hot spring he found in Hunan, the water temperature is just suitable for breeding raw fish and parent fish. After more than a month of breeding, the parent fish are mature and transported back to Guangdong and placed in a greenhouse to lay eggs and hatch. According to his production schedule, he will be able to produce fish spray at the end of January this year, and three centimeters of large seedlings will be sold before and after the Qingming Festival, half a month earlier than in the past. If the seedlings are released half a month in advance, the commercial fish (more than 1 jin) can be put on the market one month in advance. Liang Guihong said that most of the adopters put in the seedlings around the Qingming Festival and began to list in large numbers at the end of August. Farmers who invest in early fry can produce fish in July, when the price is 1 yuan / jin higher than that in August.

The cost of commercial fish raised by early seedlings is high, but the price is not expensive. Liang Guihong said that for raw fish fry of the same specification, the price of his early fry is not much different from that sold during the Qingming Festival. For a large seedling of 3 centimeters, the former is only a few cents more expensive than the latter, the price is tentatively set at 0.25 yuan per tail, and the price difference of spray is less than 10 yuan per ten thousand tails. On the other hand, the cost of hot springs is not cheap. He calculated that pulling 10,000 jin of parent fish to Hunan to soak in hot springs would cost more than 10,000 yuan more than conventional farming.

Liang Guihong said that it is conservatively estimated that 10, 000 jin of raw fish can produce 50 million fry. According to the culture habit, raw fish farmers mainly buy spray. According to this calculation, although the price of early seedling is slightly higher, it does not earn much money. If there is a loss of parent fish in the course of transportation, there is a risk of loss as early as possible. However, he stressed that he did not make early seedlings for the sake of more early seedlings. The selling price of early seedlings was slightly higher, but the cost was also higher, and the profit was similar to that of seedlings produced after Qingming Festival. The main purpose of doing so was to win over customers who wanted to release early seedlings.

He believes that the farmers who put Zaomiao are all high-quality local customers, with capital, large scale, technology, courage and influence. Working with such farmers, the benefits of the nursery farm are obvious: obtaining stable customers, and through which they can influence the surrounding farmers, expand sales and enhance their own brands.

However, some people in the industry are worried about the breeding benefits of early spring seedlings, pointing out that before the Qingming Festival, there is still a cold wave to the south, early seedlings are released, the weather is unstable, the growth of raw fish will inevitably be affected. In this way, compared with conventional culture, the emergence time of early fry is delayed, even without obvious advantage, but it has to experience the culture risk brought by cold wave. In addition, there is also the worry that fish fry raised through rising water temperatures in greenhouses or hot springs are, after all, out-of-season fry, and whether their quality is consistent with those produced in the natural environment is still worth exploring.
