Last Updated: 2024/11/05, First, the harm of insufficient drinking water of pigs is widespread in pig feeding, which only pays attention to feeding while neglecting drinking water, but they do not realize that drinking water and feeding are as important as feeding, even more important than feeding. The main harm of insufficient drinking water is: 1. Insufficient drinking water will lead to an increase in the incidence of intestinal tract in pigs. Farmers raise pigs, most of them use the traditional one-time feeding method of water supply, no matter what the weather conditions, regardless of the type of feed, do not give drinking water. Pigs often drink dirty water after they are thirsty due to lack of drinking water, especially in hot summer.

At present, there is a widespread phenomenon in pig feeding that only pays attention to feeding and neglects drinking water, but it is not known that drinking water and feeding of pigs are equally important, even more important than feeding. The main hazards of insufficient drinking water are:

1. Insufficient drinking water can lead to increased intestinal morbidity in pigs. Most of the farmer households@#@227@#@adopt the traditional feeding method of one-off water supply. No water is given between meals regardless of weather conditions and feed types. Pigs often drink dirty water due to lack of drinking water and thirst, especially in hot summer, which directly leads to a variety of intestinal diseases in pigs.

2. Insufficient drinking water will lead to lower pig digestibility and higher feeding costs. The way pigs are raised in pens is to feed them only 2 to 3 times a day with water, and the water supply is extremely insufficient. Especially fattening pigs, a large amount of thermal feed is fed every day, and these thermal feeds need to absorb a large amount of water before they can be digested, absorbed and transported by pigs. A series of physiological activities such as metabolite elimination from the body also need sufficient water. Feeding households only feed 2 to 3 times a day after the pigpen in a narrow pen, so that pigs form intestinal dryness, intestinal motility weakened, nutrient absorption incomplete, feed intake gradually reduced, digestibility reduced, growth and development hindered.

Second, strengthen the management of drinking water for pigs. 1. Set up drinking tanks. In order to meet the drinking water needs of pigs, pig farmers should give pigs at least 4 to 5 times a day. It is best to set up special drinking tanks in pig houses or playgrounds to allow pigs to drink freely and meet the water needs of pig growth and development.

2. Drink water according to the physiological characteristics of pigs. Pigs need 2 to 5 kilograms of water for every kilogram of dry feed they ingest. In winter, the drinking water consumption of pigs is slightly lower, with 2~4 kilograms of water required for each kilogram of dry feed; in spring and autumn, pigs need 8 kilograms of water for each kilogram of dry feed; in summer, pigs need 10 kilograms of water for each kilogram of dry feed. Lactating sows require more water.
