Last Updated: 2024/11/06, (a) grass yield measurement grazing land grass yield is affected by factors such as season, climate, species and grazing use. It is important to determine the reasonable sheep load by measuring the grass yield of grazing land. Sample method can be used. The mowing quantity of 1 square meter pastureland is taken as a sample, at least 10 sample squares are sampled in each grazing plot, 10~20 sample squares are sampled in each large area, 50~100 sample squares are required for desert pastureland, and the actual number of sample squares is divided by the grass yield of sample squares.

(1) determination of grass yield

The grass yield of pasture land is affected by season, climate, variety and grazing utilization form and other factors. The determination of grass yield in pasture is of great significance to determine the reasonable sheep carrying capacity.

The sample square method can be used. The method is to take the grass cutting amount of 1 square meter of pasture as a sample square, at least 10 sample plots in each grazing area, 10 to 20 sample squares in each region, and 50 to 100 sample plots in desert type pasture. Divide the actual number of samples by the sum of grass yield (kg), and then multiply by 10000, the grass yield per hectare (kg) can be calculated. The calculation formula is as follows:

Grass yield per hectare (kg) = total grass yield of all plots (kg) / actual number of sample squares × 10000

Among them: 10000 is the number of square meters per hectare of grazing land.

In the sampling, the representative sample should be selected, the mowing height of the measured sample should be similar to the feeding height of the goat, and the plants that can not be used by the goat should be removed, so as to make the grass measurement more in line with the reality.

(2) calculation of sheep carrying capacity

The sheep carrying capacity of pastoral land can be expressed by the number of grazing goats carried by the total area of pastoral land, or by the number of grazing goats per hectare. The calculation formulas are as follows:

Sheep carrying capacity in grazing land = (total pasture yield × edible rate) / (food intake per head per day x grazing days)

Among them: edible rate (%) = actual edible grass quantity / total grass yield of sheep × 100

2. The number of sheep per hectare

Total number of sheep per hectare = grass yield per hectare / (amount of grass per sheep per day x grazing days)
